I currently have a headlamp relay, GPS and heated gear connections that all go direct from the battery. I'm finally getting around to add a pair of Hella FF50 spots and a pair of driving lights coming from Germany so I have another pair of connectors that will need power. The problem is the battery terminals are already getting quite busy and adding another pair will make things worse. I seem to have two options:
1. Just add them onto the existing battery terminals making 6 on the positive and 7 on the negative posts in total. Any real problems with doing it this way other than it's messy?
2. Add a fuse block. I have wired in one of Eastern Beavers Power Centre 8 fuse blocks on my GS and it works really well but it's not a cheap option. However, if I go this route (maybe with a smaller/cheaper one) where is the best place to get switched power from if I want this option? I was thinking the rear brake circuit will have switched power but is there anywhere better? It's not the end of the world if the fuse block stays unswitched since the lights will be relay triggered anyway but I would like to think that option through.
Thanks for any input. _________________ 1980 CB900FA

I have my headlight, driving light and aux light relays all connected to the rear terminal of the starter relay in the relay box via ring terminals. That's always hot but since they're all wired into the factory headlight wiring that turns them off when the bike is off and also turns them off during starting via the load shedding relay.
For lower powered stuff (like a GPS, etc...) I tap into the switched wire on the alarm connector in the relay box. (Round white connector with four leads.)
These fuse blocks are about $5 and mount nicely next to the OEM fuse block. You need to move the flasher relay over one screw and drill a 1" hole in the side of the relay box but I like having all of the fuses together. I have all three of my bikes wired like this.

Thanks FD - I hadn't thought about getting power from the the starter relay, that sounds perfect. I will have a dig around and look for it in the morning when I have some light.
I'm thinking of using the frame as a ground - there's a suitable ground up under where the tank goes near the headstock which is convenient or is there somewhere even better?
Gotta luv this forum.... _________________ 1980 CB900FA

I ground stuff at the main grounding point under the tank. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks again FD. I have wired up the Hella's now and fitted the mounts Gwen shipped to me years ago - now painted satin black. They look really nice. I have the same FF50's on the GS which makes night riding so much fun especially as I have the normal headlamp fitted with HiD conversions as well.
My son got a digi camera for Christmas so when all is done I will steal it for a minute and gets some pics loaded. _________________ 1980 CB900FA
