Well what a fun evening that was. Retro fitting a set of BMW heated grips to my 1100RS took two of us 4 hours Sheesh!
Biggest tip from tonight that would have saved an hour of that if we'd hit on it straight away, use a bottom E string from a guitar as a wire lead for the grip wires through the bars.
Still at least my hands were toasty on the way home at 00:30 am _________________ There is only now, yesterday is gone and is unchangeable, tomorrow is uncertain. Live in the moment. |

A vacuum and a piece of string works well too. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have been riding and repairing/modifying my own bikes for over forty years but owning my BMW over the past couple of months has introduced me to a whole new level of "difference" in that companies approach to almost every aspect of puting a bike together.
I am still on a steep learning curve and have learnt that even a "15 minute job",can take many hours of head scratching to figure out.I have a Clymer workshop manual but have not found that any great help so far.
This forum has done a great deal to maintain my sanity recently !! _________________ 1993(94 MODEL) K1100RS IN ASTRAL BLUE

Hi
Mounted heated grips on a K11LT tonight.
Bought a complete set of new heated grips from Motoworks with original BMW parts with new bar and wires and switch and...
Yes running the wires trough the bar was a bit of a challange.
Sprayed silicon on the wire and turned + pushed them trough the bar took 5 min each side.
It's all there with wires and all but where to connect the wires to the electric system. Where are the socket???? |

Like Duck said, it's plug and play once you've got to that stage. There is only one plug coming out of the loom on the lefthand top rail that it could be. _________________ There is only now, yesterday is gone and is unchangeable, tomorrow is uncertain. Live in the moment. |
