Just a question from a relative newbie to these bikes.
I have a '94 model K1100rs and was wondering if they came as standard with a steering damper?
Mine does not appear to have one fitted and from my expierience does not seem to need one it handles very well without. There is a single ,unused, threaded ,mounting hole in the bottom fork tree, tho' I am not sure for what?
I have just seen reference to Steering Dampers in various manuals etc so whats the general view Question

They came standard on K100RS4V bikes which used the same upper fairing bracket, forks and fork trees. Since the K11RS is an evolution of that bike and uses many of the same parts the mounting points are on the K11RS as a legacy deal and the K11RSs were never equipped with them from the factory.

I mounted one on my RS just because I had it laying around. It isn't really needed though so it's probably just extra weight. I think I might take it off this winter.

I've been wondering if one would fit my RS sidecar rig. The VW damper didn't work out.

If you want to get rid of it send a PM

Mike

Good morning Granth...

I HAD a steering damper on my 'ol R100 Airhead, and after one ride I could not get it off fast enough ! My experience was that I lost the entire spontaneous "feel" of the road when the damper was installed. Sold it at an Airhead 'flohmarkt' for $10USD and was glad to get that as lunch money ! I guess you can guess that I, at least, did not like it ! Maybe you would however.....

Good luck..............// Ernie in NH

Thanks for the replies guys.
Its useful to know that they were not standard and as I am more than happy with the stability and handling as is, I will leave things as they are.
