I don't think I ever told you how very impressed I've been in you company. Without fail you have demonstrated a profound recognition of and marvel at the smallest beauty and the most common of things.
You appreciate things that are mostly overlooked or taken for granted by most people. You may not recall this, but I first became aware of your unique mind sitting in the back seat of a car.
You were in the passengers seat. We past by a large cluster of white daisies on the right side and you turned your head to give them your full attention until they we were past them. You said softly to yourself, but loud enough all in the car could hear, “Those flowers are beautiful”.
I had thought the same thing, but only in a passing sort of way.
You, on the other hand, had fully engaged all you being into those flowers and saw their beauty in a deep and profound way. You were almost child-like in wonder; as if you had never seen a flower before.
I believe it’s because you beheld that moment, and those flowers as only the great ZEN masters understand.
It was than I knew your mind was remarkable.
My Father sent me this today and as I read the last sentence I though of you Ted.
That! is what I saw that day.
Ride with great joy my friend!
Gwen
Ah yes, knowledge.
If you put a dot on a sheet of paper, that dot represents all you know at birth and the surrounding paper all you do not know.
Draw a small circle ( O ) around the dot and all within the circle represents what you know at the next stage, what lies without represents what you do not know, and what on the outside touches the circle represents how much you are aware of that you do not know.
Draw a bigger circle of knowledge for the next stage of learning and what is within shows what you know, the line shows your knowledge limit, what lies without is where you have no knowledge, and - most important- what touches the circle is what you are aware that you do not know.
Continue this pattern to a larger circle. Notice what happens to the circumference length?
In short, the more you learn, the more you know and the smarter you get, but you realize how much more that you do not know (and how complex things really are).
It gives me a new respect for those who express awe for the world and all its complexity around us. They are operating on the highest level of awareness. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Thanks for that Gwen
What a great start to the week that's given me
Shiny side up, and don't miss anything on the journey.

Ain't that the truth.
But I seem to have an issue with that first circle. It seems to have turned into some kind of drain, because I keep "unlearning" stuff that ought to know by now. I think it's acting as a safety valve preventing my brain from bursting. In other words, I think I'm as smart as I'm ever going to get. I must have to forget things to make room for new ideas. _________________ tlp

Only the Reasonists. They believe in an evidence-based world, something called Rationalism. But it's a tiny group, not so influential.
