Jumped on the bike this morning and the clock was an hour out. I set it and it seemed to be OK, then went out again tonight and it said 27.01 now I suspect it's bruck. Has anyone else seen the clock break? _________________ K1100RS '97

I found mine off every day for about a week. Then I found the "Richard Cranium" that was messing with it.

I doubt if even Richard Cranium could get it to read 27.01!! _________________ K1100RS '97

Has anyone else seen the clock break? | Hey Drikko, When I bought mine back in 2000, the clock was missing caracters, A few years down the track I bougght a second hand one from a wrecker cost about $180:00 if I recall, I diddn't get to fit that clock till a few months later, the clock didn't work when I installed it, and when I rang the Wrecker, they told me there was only 7 days warrenty as it was an electrical item, from then I velcroed a digital wrist watch over the exsisting one, worked for years. Not so long ago I bought a 98LT cheap and complete as a parts bike, it had a clock that worked, so I replaced it, all good since. make sure that you are sitting down if you price one from BMW there over $300:00
Cheers

$300!!! Don't need to tell the time that much.
It's not missing characters, it's just doing wacko things. Its been working perfectly today. Must be our horrible freezing winter nights I mean it plummeted down to 11 C last night! Sheesh that's cold.... _________________ K1100RS '97

I'm betting it's as simple as dirty connections on those two tin pins on the circuit board. Having switch a few over to the 12-hour display, I've seen some weird number combinations. Cleaning the pins has worked for me. _________________ '02 - GL1800

Drikko, Shees that is cold, last week we only got dow to -4 and -5, Cooma scored a -8 and Perisher scored -15. If it makes you feel any warmer, our maximum for the rest of the week will hit a mighty 12 possibly 13 C.
Heated grips don't get to go on low these days, their stuck on High?

G'day drikko - you might find this worth a look - http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech/lcd-clock-fix.shtml
You should be familiar by now with getting the instrument cluster off the bike and dismantled I'm just in the middle of it myself, fitting a set of Duck LEDs. _________________ David, owner of:

Our minimum temp is rising, it may soon reach 11 C, what luxury.
My K75 showed weird characters, I suspect it displays the time in Klingon.
I stuck a cheapo clock on the outside of the case about a year ago, so far it hasn’t been stolen and I’ve remembered to take it off when it rains or I wash the bike.
Pulling the clock to pieces and wiping the contacts on the PCB and LCD with alcohol usually helps.
Do you have suitable alcohol available ? _________________ ******************************
