Cool
This got my attention, it made me realize how many times I'm asked for ID, I never thought about it before.

Now that I have, I can't for the life of me see why anyone would get upset.

**********************************************

I'm a legal American citizen and I must show my ID when:

1. Pulled over by the police.

2. Making purchases on my credit card.

3. When I show up for a doctor's appointment .

4. When filling out a credit card or loan application .

5. When applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport .

6. When applying for any kind of insurance .

7. When filling out college applications .

8. When donating blood .

9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs .

10. When making some debit purchases, especially

if I'm out of state .

11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel .

12. When cashing a check at a bank or retail store.

I'm sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA are required to

prove who we are nearly every day!

Why should people in this country illegally , be exempt ???

Why shouldn't we guard our borders as closely as every other country in the world does ???

Go ARIZONA !!!

Don't get me wrong, I hate illegals as much as you, but 90% of the time your ID is required because of the scam-artist dirt-bags amongst us. You're not proving your citizenship as much as you are authenticating who you are...

Arizona SB1070 has the majority support in our state and, it seems, with every poll nationally conducted. It still isn't as severe as the Federal laws or that of Missouri, but, for whatever reasons, it has drawn national attention in what seems to be a logic vs emotional positioning.

Arizona has a huge state deficit. That deficit is equal to the amount of money illegal aliens have siphoned from state.

Mexico's laws regarding immigrants or, even, legal visitors are far more draconian than anything Arizona could have imagined. Many of us believe we should adopt their laws.

The Bush and Obama administrations have failed to safeguard our borders and, as such, our language and culture. (Imagine having bilingual ballots!) SB1070 has focused attention on an issue that should have been resolved long ago. It will be a topic of interest in the forthcoming national elections and the posturing is already fully underway.

I believe one's viewpoint on the matter is defining and revealing. Me? I'm pleased Arizona had the "cajones" to address the issue.

As a sidebar to this matter, the Eisenhower Administration oversaw "Operation Wetback" which had the effect of sending illegals in this country back to their countries of origin. This mainly occurred in 1954 and primarily in Texas. It lead to the "Bracero Program" in which both Mexico and the USofA reached an accord for agricultural workers, but, due to corruption on the part of officials in both countries, the program eventually died.

The basics of both Operation Wetback and the Bracero program seem applicable to today's issues as we discuss immigration reform and the economic advantage of guest workers. Studying these programs may add clarity to the options available today and the potential for abuse of any action we choose to follow.

In the meantime, we now have militant antiAmerican illegals challenging anyone that would deprive them of their "right" to be here and calling for a political and economic invasion of the US, something that is well underway. The flow of cartel drugs increases daily. While many of us wish for decisive action and abhor the possibility of an amnesty program, nothing of significance to address the matter seems to be underway. So, we are left to trust the Obama Administration, the scariest part of the whole matter.

Me? I say build the fence! And while we are at it, build those guard towers and authorize deadly force for anyone attempting to invade our territory by land, sea or air. Use drones, use minefields and use technology.

All that said, the irony is that Mexico's economy continues to build at a rapid rate. Far from being a 3rd class nation, Mexico ranks 13th in terms of economic production, is our biggest trading partner and will become stronger over the next several decades. By the fifth decade of this century America will need to import labor to meet its agricultural, industrial and technological needs. The importance of action now on the issues of immigration couldn't be more critical and should ideally lead us in a direction that allows qualifications for those that wish to immigrate here or to be seasonal guest workers. Controlled immigration.
