Is there a way to test the windshield operation with it removed from the bike? _________________ 1997 K1100GT |

Yes:- If you feel at home with electrics. In the connector there is a row of 3 pins & below 2 pins. Using the battery & the wires, you can test the operation by briefly applying voltage across the two pins, if nothing moves, reverse the wires, being careful not to short them. Disconnecting before the mechanism hits the end stops. Due to the inductive nature of the motor, there WILL be some small sparks, but nothing frightening. If that works then any fault will be either relays, switch or power supply.

There is no need to stop it before the end of travel as there are switches built into the mechanism to stop it at each extreme.
There's no need to guess about which wire does what:
Put power to the red/blue wire (this should be a decent gauge wire, like 16 at least)
Ground the brown wire (again 16 ga or thicker)
Put power to the blue/yellow wire to raise the windscreen
Put power to the gray/yellow wire to lower the windscreen
The last two wires just trigger relays so you don't need much of a wire gauge for them. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
