Are there highway bars available for the RS? I'm willing to cut holes in my fairing to mount them. _________________ 79 Honda CB750 trainer

Crash bars? Or highway pegs?
I don't think the RS has anything to mount crash bars to. The highway pegs are usually mounted to the crash bars/engine guards. _________________ Jim

Well, the idea is to do some makeshift highway pegs for knee comfort (I have nerve damage in my knees). They call them crash bars because they protect the valve covers, oil pan cover, but that will do also. _________________ 79 Honda CB750 trainer

You might be able to adapt some from another K but there'd be a lot of hole cutting I suspect.
Though people call them crash bars they are anything but. Being rubber mounted they tear right off at any speed and are good for parking lot drops only. BMW calls them engine protection bars.
If the knee thing is an issue I'd consider changing bikes. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I've considered changing bikes. I seem to be getting more pain in the hip joints now, which has been an issue for a long time. It's probably Bursitis, which my father had.
I need to be on a sportier bike though. I like to push limits. It's part of what makes me tick. Like doing Chehalem Mtn. pass hot on the heels of a much more capable machine, on a Kawasaki ZR7, a middle of the road standard. Definitely at 10/10ths and it felt so damn good to be keeping up with a bike so much more capable. So I like that kind of edge. I also like wrenching.
Harleys are definitely a no go.
I can ride for an hour now on the RS, maybe longer. It serves my needs for now. _________________ 79 Honda CB750 trainer

Something that really made my highway riding easier - every time I go under a bridge I kick my legs out to stretch one at a time. After a while it becomes second nature. Sure beats stopping every 100 miles to stretch, or trying to remember to do it every 20 minutes. _________________

I'd think the engines have the same oil sump so there'd be mounting holes there. You'd want to look to make sure though. And the frame bolts could be replaced with LT ones that hold the top of the "crash" bars.
Instead of drilling holes, why not switch over to K100RS lowers, radiator grill and side covers? Much easier to do with a better looking end product. (And not as much heat being trapped by the belly pan.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I've already removed the belly pan fairing. I like the look without it, and YES! the heat is less annoying. NYC summers are all about humidity. Yuck.
I've also procured a spark plug channel cover. Seems that the holes are not tapped, and I don't have the right tap in my kit.
I stand on the pegs, Ted, whenever I feel like my joints are too stifled. It almost always makes people behind me leave me some more space, which is an added benefit. I'm thinking they might presume I'm some kind of daredevil. I don't care what they think, as they leave me more space.
