Just got a call from the folks at HM. Seems to be the new tradition to call OTG...love it. Sad to hear the NH folks are not in attendance this year.

Arrived home at 1715, only one rain storm.
I got a text from Chip; he made it to Memphis and was rained on most of the time up to Nashvillie.
I hope others check in soon. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

It was great to see everyone who could make it to HMSP again!
Weather was good Friday - a bit rainy Saturday to get much riding in - but most people made it out for awhile. I didn't take many pix - I'll have to see if I got any good ones.
I thought I was going to be riding in rain all the way home - but I rode out of it - and fortunately missed a major frog strangler.
Route 81 was a PITA - so I took route 11 from Lexington north to Bridgewater, then 81 for awhile, then back on 11 from New Market to Strasburg.
I hope everyone else has safe travels home.
Plans are in the works for HMSP V - I should be able to post the dates for that event in the next couple of weeks. _________________ Jim

Yeah, 81 sucked.
I ditched it at Salem worked my way over to 29 at Lynchberg. It was deserted and fast. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Hi, All,
I made it to my friend's in Cosby, TN. I hit a little rain along the way. I really enjoyed seeing you who were there and hope I can see more of you next year. I expect to be home a week from tomorrow. _________________ Ride Safe,

Made it home a little after 5 midwest time. Rain wind and cold for most of the 600 miles, but decent gear and the LT protection worked fine.
Many thanks to Gwen and Jim and all. I had a great time and am looking forward to next year. _________________ '93 K1100LT

I made it in about 10:30 eastern time(930 my time).
Had rain off and on all day from the park all the way to the Iowa border(about 700 miles). No frog stranglers, but just nice light showers to heavy drizzle, and one hell of a cold, gusty cross wind thru Indiana to go with the rain.
From then on clear blue sky, got in just after sunset and saw only 1 deer, within 1 mile from home no less. _________________ Ride safe.

Dave,
All home and safe. Jen did GREAT and she is back in her apartment in Providence, R.I. She had fun in the twisties and did the job on 75mph Interstates. I'm actually very impressed with her riding, and not one complaint thru the pouring rain.
Stay sane on the west coast, eh? There are odd forces out there.

It was a good weekend - good people, good riding, and good food. Thank you to all who made the effort to get there and be part of it. Thank you to Phil and Gwen for cooking - Gwen spent way too much time in the kitchen...
The weather Saturday and Sean's electrical gremlins slowed things down a little Saturday. Audi helped me with the rear shock/suspension (again), Chip helped me with the Charge-X, Motolights and a County sticker plate, Audi and Jim B swapped Remus cans, Scott_ and a couple others helped Sean with his electrical issues. There was plenty of general hanging out, and a decent campfire Friday night (but not by Australian standards) - thanks, Scott (Skeet) for hauling the firewood. _________________ Jim

Rydor and I left HM for deals gap on sunday. An absolute perfect day on the BRP turned bad when Rydors 11s front brakes vapor locked(old ass black brake fluid). We made our way to the Iron Horse lodge(sean w no fr brakes!) and attempted to change the fluid in the am to hit Deals gap. Monday, As we pressurized the system the upper line blew, now a total mess and no shop near to deal w a catastrophic failure, and NO Deals Gap! For us that day.
So, we check with some of the local shops to see if any can make custom brake lines, the most we get is a promise of some jury rigged job. So, we decide to make our way to my shop in Atl for a set of brake lines. 5hrs after getting to my place, we have pressure! A quick ride to the local for some beer and food, then some much needed sleep.
Rydor got on the road home at 6am.
Other than the brake debacle. HM4 captured the finite, great people, plenty of food and drink(thanks Gwen and Phil). Thanks to Jim for organizing the lodge.
Breeze.

In mid conversation about my time at HM I blerted out "oh and I'm going to paint the K12S pink".
You could hear a pin drop on the moon.
Steve said, "I'll burn it to the ground first".
We went back and forth a few times and l said 'You made the KTM too loud for me to ride the you handed the keys to the K12S to me and said "It's yours".
(pause)
"Fine. You go ahead and paint it pink".
It was clearly a dare and he doesn't think I'll do it.
It will be pink by HM 5 _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I priced it today.
Two tone ~$1000 - $1500.
I plan on doing it in September.
That'll give me time to save the money and work out the design details.
As well as not interfer with the best of the riding season. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Jim and were talking/recapping this year.
First: portion control, MUST work on that. It saves us money and avoids waste.
To do this I think these are good measures:
1. Less complex food
2. More handy snacks, chips etc.
3. Buy less in advance and only as needed when needed.
We discussed grilling next year.
I thought it would be neat if we did a BYOS (Bring Your Own Steak)
With the grocery store so close, we could each buy our own preferred cut, or chicken if you liked.
We would group buy baking potatoes and toppings and one veggie.
Just thinking out loud...
Next, the lodge was the damn bomb!
It costs $1000 and can sleep 10-14.
The sooner we reserve it the more likely we can secure it for 2012.
Here's the rub...from the time Jim makes the reservation they have to have the money with in 2 weeks.
I can tell you right now I'll be there next year.
Jim will be there also.
That's two.
If we could get 8 more people to pay in advance at $100 each, we can guarantee the cabin for 2012.
If anybody thinks this is a good idea and is willing to put money on it, I suggest we set August 1st as the dead line.
If you pay in advance and can't make it, you could sale you slot to someone that can.
Again, just thinking out loud... _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
