Well we certainly ruptured a few budgies on Saturday night. Uneventful ride down and back, these BMWs are so boring in that way. Being a Moto Guzzi rally we felt left out with no tales of heroism from bike rebuilds on the side of the road......sigh.
Still the purpose of the trip was to drink and talk shit which we all accomplished with great aplomb. Unfortunately my camera wasn't so accomodating. To be honest it's picture taking abilities are crap, my old 4M Olympus was better so will revert to that in future, heres some that did turn out OK ish.
Frank and Andrew from this forum figure highly for here, Here's Frank out of focus, actually it wasn't the camera, it was Frank, he was out of focus all night.....you'll notice his lights are on, but nobody is home
On the other hand Andrews lights are out but he is home and talking still!!
That's not a fire...THIS is a fire. The flash washes out the glow and flames of course, that log has to be 3ft wide!!
Lots of people standing around campfires staring into hangovers and wondering how to get their Guzzis started....
The most intelligent thing Andrew said for 2 days, the bird..... Note the brainless twit with the harley in the background sleeping under a tarp on the fall over side of the bike. If the sidestand had sunk in or broken, he would have a hard time getting out from under it with a set of broken ribs!!
Frank in a desperate and futile search for a missing bottle of bourbon (um, you drank it Frank). Yep, he even brought the kitchen sink in that trailer....
So what's the best small pocket Point and Shoot camera these days???? _________________ K1100RS '97

Yeah but the harley wouldn't have hurt them fortunately. They are too smart to lie under it. _________________ K1100RS '97

Another camera suggestion: we just bought a Coolpix L22 for just under a hundred USD so we would have something to stick in the glovebox or fanny pack all the time. 12 MP, uses AA batteries. Takes great pictures, has a macro feature, will do video, and is pretty fast on thge shutter as digicams go. Plus, at $100, you won't be terribly put out if it falls and breaks or if it gets nicked. _________________ 79 Honda CB750 trainer

Not sure of the exact source of the Ruptured Budgie name, but it does have someting to do with the Guzzi eagle. No one seems to want to come clean on it... Must be quite dubious.
So I bought for A$200 a Canon A2000 P&S, it is stunning! I have the use of a friends Nikon SLR expensive thingy, him and I spent yesterday taking photos with both at the same time of the same things. Blown up on a big screen, we just couldn't pick the difference except in low light situations where the Canon was a bit more grainy. But in normal light situations the Canon was so incredible, he has gone to buy one as well! Reckons there's no point in lugging the Nikon around if the Canon was that freaking good hahaha.
I took pictures with my camera that was used above and all the photos were crap compared to either of them, so I am very happy.
The advice above that you can't go wrong with a Canon seems to be true! I should have known that seeing as there is an unused Canon EOS SLR film camera in the cupboard which always took awesome photos.
All the reviews said something similar, ie it wasn't the fastest camera, it didn't have all the features that others have but the picture quality was way better. Seems to me that's what you want for something that takes pictures..... Oh yeah and it takes AA batteries which I had as a must be. I am sick of the little LI-on batteries going flat when the camera isn't in use. And spares are everywhere, no need to look for a chrager. _________________ K1100RS '97
