this morning I pulled the faithfull 95 out of the garage. Hit the starter button... starter motor was turning, no engaging of the sprag clutch.
Figure tonight I remove the starter motor and see if that resets the starter clutch.
any other ideas? Or is it time to tear it apart?
thanks. _________________ Tim Lindstrom, ab0ts

No reason to remove the starter as you won't be able to get to what's causing the issue that way.
The sprag assy is inside the intermediate housing.
I have read other places, something you can try, roll the back backwards and engage the clutch to try and turn the sprag assy.
Then try the starter again.
If that doesn't work, try push starting it, I know easier said than done.
Once you get it started let it run and get the oil hot. Some cleaning additive in the oil wouldn't be bad. Then change the oil
Chances are that it's just gummed up. Known to happen.
The point is to get it running somehow and get the hot oil up into the gear assy to clean it out good, then put some fresh clean oil in. _________________ Ride safe.

I had seen a post on the IBMWR web in regard to the 85 K's and the use of Risoline or some thinning agent to clean up the gum.
Also the person said its from short rides in winter.. which I do.
thanks for the info. It has done this before but then its starts right off. I did try rocking it back and forth some.
thanks again! _________________ Tim Lindstrom, ab0ts

Thursday evening I tried bump starting the K bike. However it didn't start. Checked web site information on this web site I think. Have to hit the starter button as that also starts the fuel pump, when popping the clutch on a "bump" start... OK
Friday I rolled down the alley and ... bike first sneezed then coughed and finally it ran for a second. Thumbed the starter button, beemer purred like normal!
Temps here in Minnesota is 50 degrees. I drove back to my garage and let the bike idle for 20 minutes. Maybe it didn't get hot enough like a July day.
Dropped the oil and let it alone for a few hours. Nice and black, thinned out due to the Sea Foam.
Castrol 20W50 this time. Starts and is ready for another destination!
Thanks for the info! Communications is great but only if we ask for help, eh? _________________ Tim Lindstrom, ab0ts
