Can one of you K11 electrical experts confirm the purpose of the Relief Relay? I assume it's the relay that cuts power to unnecessary loads when the starter motor is engaged?

If that is correct, I'm guessing the Green/Brown wire in the control box, which is connected via the fuse box to the relief relay, provides +12V when Ignition is On and the starter is NOT engaged. (I have a '95 RS).

I would like to use this 12V source for the control relay for my HID driving lights since I would like the option to use them regardless of whether the headlight is on high or low-beam.

On my '95 RS, this line is conveniently available on the unused connector for the optional burglar alarm - something I will never add.

Thanks

Ken it looks like you are correct on both counts.

Yes, the load shed relay operates when the starter is engaged thus "shedding" un-needed load for full power to the starter.

Yes, the green/brown wire should be a ign switched power wire that you could use for relay control power. It should be the same fused circuit(#7) that feeds the horn relay so it is a protected circuit.

Tap it into the yellow/white for the left switches. That powers both headlights.
