I don't know if any will recall but some
time ago, (well before xmas) I posted for info and tips having just got a K1100 with a dripping inspection hole and few other little probs.

Anyhow, having had the water pump seal kit sitting around waiting for the p*****g down rain to ease, recently we had a run of a few good dry clear days, whipped off the pump, stripped cleaned and refitted the new seals, plan to get the video on youtube also so hopefully will be handy for others planning to do the job on their own K's.

Having done that I decided the oil and filter were next on the menu, so that was done today, the gearbox is scheduled too.
Also, one of the things niggling away was the temp gauge not reading correctly, it was sitting in the middle of the blue and reaching only as far as just out of the blue when the overheat warning light would light, (discovered on the ride from Surrey to Scotland when I bought the bike and sitting in traffic on the m/way)
I decided to try the first obvious thing and replace the sensor in the pump, (which is the one feeding the temp gauge, the one feeding the ECU and overheat warning is fitted to the pipework below the radiator), it seemed to do the job, the temp gauge now moves more than it ever did and had it up to almost 3/4 before I flicked the fan in.
(fan motor replaced at some point and wired to a manual switch, i'm now wondering whether to rewire the auto cut in or just leave as is as now I have a working gauge I can tell when I need to flick the fan on, whichever way, i'll leave the manual override switch in place.
So all in all, i'm pretty pleased with the bits I got done today and recently, just need some nice dry weather if anyone can help? Smile
