there should be an extensive topic some where on this forum about some one getting new injectors. When they told him the price for a set of ultra rare BMW ones he needed CPR and after that he started looking at alternatives...
i think i remember it being something like KAV of Kaz... and the pricing of 1 complete set was less than a new one original....
the reason i am interested... i have 8 BMW injectors here, but i have no clue which ones are good, and which are not... "checking" them cost me about 25 euros a piece (the do a flow check and clean them with i guess water).
if i want to find out which of these 8 are the best squirter's, it is going to set me back something like 200 euros i am unlucky.... a brand new set might be a lot more attractive. |

Can you ask them just to spray test them first and not clean them? I'd imagine that would be much cheaper if thy'd do it.
You could hook them up and test them yourself. I haven't done this but other people have. The one BIG caution is that you're spraying gas mist into the air. Probably a good idea not to do it near flames or sparks.
I have mine done by a guy here in the states who charges $19.95 each to clean them.
Don't know if the same is true over on that side of the pond but I've heard that in the states truck stops arre the most affordable place to get them cleaned/reconditioned. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Don't want to rain on your parade, but.
Not sure what application you looking at for the injectors, but I don't think that the 2V application is the same as the 4V ones.
The ones listed in the link are for a 2V replacement.
Not sure what the difference is but BMW does list a different part # for the 4V injectors than the 2V ones. _________________ Ride safe.

Good morning guys...
Hey, I have to admit that I dont know very much about fuel injectors, but when I was still working with companies such as the Siemens in Newport News VA and Pizzza Italy, as well as with Bosch in Charleston SC... I supplied custom injector o-rings both internal and external. I remember having asked at both Bosch and Siemens about the differences in injectors and was told that the "coil windings" ( ie: the internal solenoid ) were different to control response characteristics, and that the orifice which determines "spray pattern" were the primary differences. I never asked, but assumed, that perhaps needle geometry may also have been slightly different from one part number to another (?) even though the needle diameters internally were all the same. ( Direct Injection versions excepted ) We tested all potential o-ring ( internal and external ) applications in Germany at 100 bar, using Stoddard fluid. Bosch did the same at their Incoming Inspection but also used 'high speed" cameras to verify the spray patterns.. I'm afraid thats all I know about the subject, but suspect that a 2V injector would perform differently than a 4V injector (????) It would be really GREAT to know however just what the differences really are !
Good luck with this thread I hope we can find out for sure !
