Hey Y'All!
My bike came to me with a tired-looking Corbin seat... comfy, but ugly!
Last winter I left the seat at the local boat upholstery shop, along with a mirror to colour-match (the left mirror, that is ). I was impressed with the outcome: just over $50 and guaranteed against UV damage.
Sure beats Corbin's pricing for a plain black re-do!

Nice looking bike, for an RS.
I rode an RS with a similar seat and my pillion really liked how the well the ride was compared to other corbin's that I have. _________________ Ride safe.

Great looking seat recover. At a really great price.
Looks like you've been having luggage latch problems though. _________________ John & Cathy

So - are you going to tell us where this shop is, and give us the contact info? Or is it a well kept secret? _________________ Jim

Problems? Heck no!
Have bungee... no problem!
Actually, the trunk latch is the least of my worries. That left-side bag dropped off at speed, and the tire wore a 4" gaping hole in it before I managed to pull over. Repair materials: hot glue and a piece of a reusable plastic container. Still holds... for now... _________________ First words whispered to me by my K1100RS: Faster! Faster! |

No secret intended. The place that did it was:
RW Boat Tops & Interiors up here in Huntsville, Ontario. Here's their phone:
(705) 789-7778
That said, I think most marine upholstery shops would be comparable. _________________ First words whispered to me by my K1100RS: Faster! Faster! |

Have you notice that BeemerChick has several threads going without an introduction or a proper welcome? And assuming BC is a female, only our second one. Welcome, BC. _________________ Jim

Thanks for the official welcome!
Intro... Hmmm...
Have been lurking for a while now, swallowing up all the wisdom imparted here.
I am indeed female, and living in the wilderness of Ontario, Canada. An off-grid cabin in the bush is admittedly an odd home for a 93 K100RS, but I fell in love with the K-RS bikes as a city kid. When I could finally afford one, I never thought I ought to change my tastes to better suit my home. Now, every time someone sees me balancing the bike on the dirt road leading home, I get asked whether I'm lost.
She may not look like she belongs, but I love her anyway.
And I live for the few weeks a year I spend on that bike, with tent and bedroll strapped to the passenger seat. _________________ First words whispered to me by my K1100RS: Faster! Faster! |

BeemerChick,
To add to Jim's post- WELCOME.
I would have done this earlier today but I was down in the garage pulling my '93 RS apart- aging seals and cracked, leaking hoses, etc..
How many miles on your '93?

GREAT looking seat BeemerChick! Gotta get mine done up too, probably in black to offset the stark white. Although I'll probably get it done here, I think sending my seat 14,000 miles there and then back again will cost 'slightly' more than 90 bucks...haha! Nice work, well done

G'morning B/C...!!
Salt-Creek Jim is right as usual ! Despite the 2006 'join date' we are all remiss in not having offered a proper WELCOME !! Hope you will join us at HM-lll in May. Who knows... maybe we'll see you on the road someday on one of my visits to Sudbury .. At any rate, WELCOME once again..
best regards..........// Ernie-NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

OK, now I feel truly welcomed
and I hate to admit it, but I don't recall the mileage on the bike. Over 50K kms (30K+ miles), for sure, but no idea how far over. I'd check, but she's sleeping in a friend's stable 'til spring. Will let ya know, though! _________________ First words whispered to me by my K1100RS: Faster! Faster! |

No worries BC, my odometer's been stuck at 37,043kms since I got her in June last year, apparently the gear that turns the trip- and odometer is broken, so I'm pretty unsure of my mileage too, I reckon I'm up to 40,000kms easy already
Anyway, and I guess this sounds weird coming from somone who joined this group after you, WELCOME!

The BM shop here in Brisbane has a locally made set of the gears driving that. It consist of the 3 gears that do occasionally break. I used them to fis the odo in my old K100. A local watchmaker makes them.
If you want me to get them they are about $35A for the 3 from memory. And I could post them up. _________________ K1100RS '97

Welcome BC
First, that is one hell of a BEAUTIFUL K1100RS and the seat is the cherry on top!
Second, I'm Gwen, the only other known female member here.
You now bring the total to only two female K1100RS riders I've ever heard of. The other I met when I bought her bike.
We are clearly a rare breed indeed. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Greetings Gwen!
A fellow K1100RS girl, eh? Dang!
If I'd been more vocal on this board and bumped into you earlier, I'd have encouraged you to join me for part of my ride through Shenandoah and the Blue Ridge Mountains last summer.
If you find your way to the great white north, we must go for a spin. We rare breeds ought to stick together, you know. _________________ First words whispered to me by my K1100RS: Faster! Faster! |
