Beautiful machines, how's the milage when your smokin along?
I ran back from TN with a guy from Iowa I met on the road just out side the Cumbeland gap. He had a nice see the LEO before he sees you set up. I asked if he minded I shadow him with out crowding. He said it be cool. We were running 90 - 100 MPH indicated on my 93 RS silly fast speedo. Mine is only off 5 -6 MPH per the GPS. We then hooked up with another couple of guys headed to SO DAK. One on an a NEW 1300 BMW and another on the GS1200. We all were running hard around 100MPH
all the way back past west of Indy before I split off to go North to home.
Our fuel ups were about perfect for me at 210 to 220 miles, his ST1100 always took more gas. He mentioned mid 30's. Not bad for the speeds we were at. I usually took about 4.8 to 5 gal on teh button. Cutting it close I know, but that fuel light would only be on for 15 maybe 20 miles before we stopped.
If I had one of them I'd probably spend too much time watching TV. Besides, ain't that grass always so freakin green on the other side? _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Those ST's are sweet bikes, but I was recently at my friendly local Honda dealer and saw what I thought was a new scooter or something, turned out to be an ST! Aside from a step through area, it looked like a scooter (no offense to those scooterist's among us). The seat height was really low and it just seemed too tame to be a serious sport tourer.
I like the older ones better. _________________ Steve

The STs are nice bikes. Nondescript, but nice.

Just what we were talking about last Saturday night at the HL (1?)
The Norge (yeah it does sound like an appliance) looks right but moving to a current bike with K11 maintenance frequency is nutz.
All along, I have said that my next bike has to have the position and protection of my K-RS with the reliability of Cathy's '08 Outback. When anybody finds it- it will be in my garage.
Meanwhile, has anyone heard from Jim (Saltcreek)? He may be headed for who knows where on a newly acquired Honda St1100. _________________ John & Cathy

TWO ST1100 threads running parallel
The K11 forum must have arrived at the nexus of the universe. Where's Stephen Hawking when you need him.
Actually the answer is closer to home- Mr Moderator Jim was unable to unravel this conundrum. _________________ John & Cathy

I think JP was trying to post on the other thread and accidentally started a new one. Is it worth combining them? Maybe we're done, (for now? ). Maybe I'll run down to the Honda shop and start a third one. _________________ Jim

So I've got you monitoring that site now too!
Come on down and we'll look em over. Unfortunately they have an absolute no test drive policy.
I think I like the 1100 better. _________________ Jim

Actually I have been occasionally looking at the NPS site since they were formally know as The Collectable Trader.
The clincher on any future bike will be cruise control or the ability to install one without being the first person to do it (I like someone else to iron out the installation wrinkles and not have to reinvent the wheel)
Following Scott last Sunday- I am sold. He set his cc on about 75 and the 3 of us had a steady target to follow. When I am on the highway by myself I find the same annoying speed fluctuations that I have eliminated in all our cars. I will not buy a car without cruise and now I want one on my long distance bike- whatever that ends up being (maybe the K-RS I have now). _________________ John & Cathy

my wife rides a honda Pacific Coast (Pacific COUCH) which looks like a scooter on steroids. I am trying to get her to move up to an ST1100. They are great touring bikes and just about bullet proof. A true gas and go bike. _________________ Ron

When Bro and I ride together, we usually fill up at the same time (he tolerates the need to refuel every 180-200 miles). Since we were riding together, the conditions and level of agression were nearly identical. The RS always consumed about 10% more fuel. _________________ tlp

Have to confess that I liked it perhaps as a 3rd bike? I have always liked the Pan, in fact I was looking for one of those or a k11 - whichever came first - when I found the current bike. As to the ST13, I think they've ironed out the high speed fishtailing but for a while they were known as the 'widow-maker' over here. Still prefer the ST11 though. _________________ Cheers, Steve H _______________________________________
