Didn't have to run credit card--a little laid back??? So if you don't like it, no sweat. Been there and Lead-nice roads. Not far from Rushmore, etc.
I'll be there then. More than 2 in the cabin is $5/person.

I'll try to make it. Tent probably.
It'll be nice to ride those roads while Sturgis isn't going on. My uncle's memorial service was nearby during the rally a few years ago so I took my LT. It's a zoo and those 150 mile a year riders are scary. Not there aren't tons of good riders there too, it's just the lifestyle guys with their lack of riding skills (and the drunks) that I try to stay as far away from as possible.
Spot the LT!

I don't know if it's occurred to anyone else but if anyone is heading east from Redmond you could stop by the Hungry Buffalo. Maybe you should post an invite in the MOA rally thread. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Well if the first night at the campground isn't until Tuesday (20th), miKeinWIs and Flying Duck may not be rolling in until later in the day. Maybe we should change the first night of lodging to Monday night? Unless Scott_Anderson is able to change his ride day to Wednesday...
Thoughts?
In any case, I've got some nice roads in mind... _________________ tlp

I'm trying to get out of being "at work" on Friday day if I can at least be back in town for "on call" status by 4 pm.
If I can accomplish that I could possibly do the day ride on Wednesday.
It's going to be a messed up week anyway for the family get together.
Will keep you posted.
Edit: update
I don't have to be "at work" on Friday, so I can travel home of Friday.
I will be available for the day ride either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Some of my family will be up Tue, some up Wed, some leaving on Fri, so it will be whatever, whenever, with whoever is there. _________________ Ride safe.

Good morning all...

Ditto on that ! Laconia is exactly the same with the exception that here in NH we dont have the space that SD has, making the congestion and the potential for "problems" all the greater. Thats exactly the reason a lot of us get out before "bike week" and return home well after. The low milage 'fair weather' riders and the 'drunks' would scare the hell out of anybody !
Hope EVERYONE has a great time at the Hungry Buffalo, also hope I can make it next year !

At the time I called cabin 2 was available Monday nite.
I was thinking the same as Klinker--is tuesday shot by getting there late?
Figured I'd get there or close to it Monday night.
Sounded like as long as it wasn't Sturgis Rally or the weekend--no problemo.
Let me know. I'll call the guy and get Monday nite if possible.

My plan is to leave early Sunday morning and take The North Cascades Highway, then shoot across Idaho on Highway 2, go through Glacier NP, and then head to Deadwood from there.
I might show up late Monday or sometime Tuesday with Tuesday maybe being more likely I think.
We need to PM together a list of cell phone numbers of attendees and have the first person to arrive be the SPOC (single point of contact) so others can check in with their ETAs.
I'll have my netbook with me so Internet communication should also be possible.
By the way, if the weather forecast looks really sucky then I might choose to blow it off. Shouldn't be an issue this time of year though.
Thinking about the heat, I'm leaning towards the cabin instead of tenting if there's AC. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I can ride either or both days as well, but since Flying Duck wrote: | I might show up late Monday or sometime Tuesday with Tuesday maybe being more likely I think. |
...let's plan on a good meal together Tuesday evening, riding Wednesday. Unless I hear otherwise, the reservations should work as they are at present (Tuesday and Wednesday nights.)

Here is a look at the place, showing Cabin #2.
From the other side, creek in foreground.
The cabin has one full bed and four bunks plus the campground has tent sites (lots of room). They do have fire rings for evening campfire fellowship and plenty of dining (and gambling) options in nearby Deadwood or a roadhouse in the other direction.
A couple more shots from the area:
Boubaix Lake.
Pactola Reservoir.
Sheridan Lake.
Rainbow over KRS in Badlands.
Hope to see everyone that indicated they're coming and more! _________________ tlp

Thanks for the recon, Klinker . Looks pretty good. Cabin is small, huh? 10X14 or so is pretty tight.
I'm flexible. Late Tues meet up is fine. Refine agenda as time nears.

I've got my 2-day route planned: Lolo Pass, Beartooth Pass(it's open - YIPPEE!), Chief Joseph Scenic Highway and some other misc 2-laner stuff.
I'm staying at a friend's cabin near Anaconda, MT the first night. This means I won't have to set up/break camp so I can make it to Deadwood at a reasonable hour.
I just need to know what night to show up, Monday or Tuesday? Is Tuesday night the "official" start?
I'll have my camping gear with me for the ride home so I'd be fine with a bunk.
After we part, I'm going to visit my step-aunt in nearby Custer for a few days so might be doing some more riding around there.
I just hope I don't run into these guys again:
