the first few inches of white stuff has arrived in Michigan's northland and that means is will soon be here to stay, soon time to put Dr. Beemer to bed for the winter. A friend has offerd garage space, but I'll need to make it mobile so he can move it around. I've seen some center stand dollies (cyclegadgets.com) but am shyed away by the 2 c-note price for such a simple stamping and 4 casters. A HD friend uses some sears ATV jack but I don't think it will work on K's -- jacks from the bottom.
So my question is, can you lift a k-bike from the bottom? with propper blocking under the engine? I've seen the manual and there is some gizmo that BMW makes for just that but I'm sure ain't cheap.
Any expience ?
Thanks to any and all hints |

Yeah, you can lift it from the bottom but it is not stable at all- DAMHIK
Those dollies may be pricey, but if it will be used for multiple winters, it spreads the cost out.
Besides, if you use (or build) something else that isn't stable and it falls over- how much will that cost? _________________ John & Cathy

I have a Telefix that was a gift...It is very steady (same as being on your center stand) I find it rather difficult to get it up on the stand, as you now have an extra 3/4" to get the bike up on. Once it is on, the front wheel is still touching the ground, so you still need to walk it around a little. You can lift the front end by pushing down on the tail of the bike, but then you would need two people to get it moved.
That said, once up and on (BTW the K1100 is easier than the K100) it is nice to be able to slide it sideways into a corner, or close to the front wall of the garage.
You can see mine in my avatar.

Has anyone tried one of these?
Harbor freight sells them for $100.

It seems to be designed for sidestand bikes but might work with the centerstand, maybe with a little modification. Solves the front wheel problem and is fairly inexpensive. _________________ Jim
