I may have missed this in "Search" and "stickies" and IBMWR but how are you handling the 2 bleeders up top of the ABS-II modulator under the seat of a 97 LT? When suction is applied down at either side of the front brake(s) will the "suction" method pull any of this lines fluid plus the master cylinder fluid? Or, are you applying suction (minimal) at this point? ie Or, are you using lite (say 10 "Hg) "pressure/fluid" at this point, ie "ABS modulator" and bleeding out at the caliper?
Any info would be most welcome since I can't seem to find it spelled out anywhere? TIA! _________________ Carl

I bleed the ABS modulator 1st then go to the calipers.
I use a powered vac pump, not a handheld squeeze job, and I have had no issues bleeding this way. _________________ Ride safe.

I've put Speed Bleeders on both of mine. Just bleed the ABS Modulator 1st. _________________ Rod Kilduff

Scott & rkildu,
Are you using "suction" on the ABS modulator nipples or "pressure/fluid"?
And, the "forward" most nipple belongs to the front brakes and the rear one to the rear brakes, right?
You guys are great! Thank you! _________________ Carl

Actually the forward nipple is for the rears and the rear one is for the front brakes. _________________ Ride safe.

Speed bleeders are just small one way check valves. Just open a turn and pump the brake handle/pedal until done, then tighten them up again. I just pump the brakes into a catch bag that I got when I ordered the speed bleeders. You just have to be careful to keep fluid in the reservoirs. Also set the caps in place, it tends to squirt up. I tried the vac technique but it didn't seem to make much difference. Be careful on the rear brake. It is possible to bottom the piston in the master cylinder and it will stick.
On the ABS II module the front bleeder is for the rear brakes, etc. _________________ Rod Kilduff

I use the hand pump style vacuum bleeder for changing out the fluids quickly but have always had to resort to old school manual bleeding to get the final firmness in the "pedals"
On the ABS I, bleeding to get clean fluid in the module then going to the caliper has worked best for me. Don't know why ABS II would be any different.
