Right side windshield bracket is broken at the upper slide mount point (at the angle). Would like to JB Weld it but I can't squeeze together. Looks way too difficult to replace.

Everthing still works fine but it rattles a bit over bumps and I don't know how long it will stay together on its own.

Anyone had this problem?

I did.

What I did was take a surgical grade piece of steel and cut it down to about 5" by 1/2", drill a hole in each section and fasten with nuts/bolts from my RC truck parts bucket. Slap a coat of JB weld on it and mine was rock-solid when I sold the bike. In fact it was the most solid it was in the 3 years of owning the bike.

Took some dremel work and I had to take the windshield apart.

I had to replace a broken part in the lift mechanism when I bought my bike. I think it's a pretty easy area to work on if you're patient.

I would be very cautious about riding with any compromised parts in that system. Imagine grabbing that windshield and holding it out your car window at 80 mph. Then let go with one hand.

Can you remove the entire windshield assembly as a unit, then disassemble? Max's fiche lists the part that's broken if JB weld doesn't stick.

The messing around I've done has been working between the front fairing and lowered dash board. But all I've done is repair a broken spring and clean/lube the sliding parts.

As far as the thing flying off, I don't think I could break the windshield off with a crowbar, what with the springs and attactments.

Under the screen there is a panel held in place with cross head screws (from the front) remove the screws after removing the dash trim and the windscreen and mech will come off as a unit, be careful when removing it as you have to pull it out a bit then unplug the wires, easy to drop it and put a nice scratch in your paintwork.

Thank you guys for the tips and OTG for pictures. I like the repair idea rather than trying to replace that arm.

With all deference to otg, if it's the part I think it's only $35 even from max. Is it really worth it?

Once I get the windshield assembly off the bike and can determine how easily it will come apart, I may just get the new part.

Crystal light.

Regarding the bracket I didn't have time to replace it as I found out it was broken 2 days before I was to meet the new buyer.

That being said, I might have done the repair route anyway because it is literally rock-solid.
