Hey All! Haven't been around for the last year or so. Go figure, 40 yrs old and already had a hip replacement! This is the first season in the last 3 that I have been able to ride with out pain. Finally!
Anyways, I am re-installing my motolights, and can't remember where the power lead goes. The instructions say...tap the relay power lead into the tail light hot wire. I thought it was plugged into the fuse panel before...I seem to remember it was "pinched" in with #10 fuse. Is this a bad thing?
Keep in mind I am electronically challenged...
Thanks!
Good to be back... _________________ 1997 K1100LT Mine...ALL MINE! |

If your POWER lead is fused you could take it to the battery. If it's not fused, fuse it and take it to the battery, or the power connection in the battery box.
How do you want to control your lights.
Do you want them on all the time your riding? Only with the High beam? Are you going to have a dash switch to turn them off when not wanted?
Those questions will help determine where you connect you relay COIL lead. _________________ Ride safe.

The power lead comes off a switch.
Positive lead comes from Battery to fuse then to the relay, then to the power lead. The switch is tied in with the power lead...I hope that makes sense. I have a diagram, but can't figure out how to put it on here....just did...

Ok, I was able to wire the Power lead to a hot line. No lights. Is it rather likely that when I had my wire-meltdown a couple of years ago (havent hooked the lights up since) that the relay was fried? They're cheap so I was going to get one anyways...thoughts? _________________ 1997 K1100LT Mine...ALL MINE! |

Test all of the components separately.
Does each light work if hooked up directly to a power source?
Do you hear a click when you put 12V to the switch wire? (And ground the relay ground wire.)
Do you have some sort of ohmeter or continuity tester to test the switch? _________________ 93 LT (x2)
