Hi, All,
I'm sitting visiting with John and Cathy in Sugar Hill, NH. I have the dead fuse next to me, the fuse which stopped my electric vest and chaps from giving me WARMTH on this 49 degree F afternoon! There is now a live fuse in the bike. Plans are now complete for the spaghetti and lobsta celebration.

DAVE, Have you seen Scott underscore Anderson yet? The whole world wonders/

Scotts taking a dump in my bathroom atm. We just finished "prepping" the bikes for tomorrow.

Will be leaving here by 9am. Should be at Jims by 3ish mas o menos.

Dinner was Porterhouse steak with a sweet/sour rub, fried Yucca, Broccoli Rabe and a Baby Arugula salad.

I spaced on food pictures at dinner last night (Thursday) so I had to catch Phil in action- first at breakfast....

Then he was making up the list (and checking it twice- he does kinda' look like Santa) for the spaghetti feast. BTW, he does promise all good, well behaved K11'ers something good on Saturday- his special sauce:

Looking to get on the road to the Saltcreek homestead in a couple of hours (hey it's almost 45 degrees now- looking for 50 by 10am, our estimated time of departure).

Going to leave enough time to show Phil some nice twisties when we head south to Jim's.

Hi, All,
We're all here at John and Cathy's in Sugar Hill. The lobsters are in pots, boiling merrily away. In 10 minutes or less, we'll be celebrating Hungry Lobsta. We WILL enjoy!

Note to J.O. OTG accepts paypal. You are hereby advised you can avoid paying OTG by you (and MO) showing up HERE in Sugar Hill for the spaghetti feast tomorrow night.

Hi, J.O.,
OTG says thanks for the gas money to get home. Paypal address is:
dalureed@yahoo.com. He said it's sad you couldn't be here to pay him in person.

Last night's feed was excellent. TOO much food- Thank you Cathy!!!

OH, lobsta death- but this is K11OG, not PETA

Food's on the table and everybody held off long enough to get this....

Within a few minutes there were dissected crustacean bodies everywhere

All hands on deck for the clean up........

So as day 2 dawns we see a little rain but it looks to be clearing so a pm ride is probable. Details/evidence will follow.........

Wow....breakfast ran a close second to the lobsta. I mean lobsta is lobsta but how often can you get farm-fresh eggs from Jim?

Outstanding.

Well....................

So day 2 was kinda' wet. The picture is at 40 miles out but doesn't do the weather any justice. Flippin' cold, blowing hard and WET.

Phil was the smart one and stayed at the house. The 4 of us got the ride in but it is great to be back and dried off.

As I sit on the deck smoking a cartoon-sized cigar by myself I can only lament on the day gone past.

The ride started good, with 4 brave riders heading out. As we climbed into the heart of the White Mountains the weather began to deteriate rapidly, prompting us to don rain gear. It was plainly evident at this point that:

1. A set of 3XL Frog Togs thrown over normal gear does not a rainsuit make. I underdressed for the cold to begin with and when my boots and gloves got wet it was pretty miserable. Not to mention that everyone else had heated gear, full fairings, windshield or some combo of the 2. At the least I need to invest in some waterproof/heated boots and gloves....the Frog Togs did their job, my core was dry but when you have wet cold feet you could have a hot stripper on your lap while eating a Klondike bar watching a football game at it would still suck.

2. The FZ1 is much more "sport" than "tourer". Even outfitted with the tall windshield, handguards, highway pegs, cramp buster and throttlemeister it still sucked to ride 400 miles stopping every 150 for fuel. It's just not comfortable for long distances. The Sargent seat even with a sheepskin is good for a 100 miles, but after that my ass resembled a spider monkeys with a case of ezema. It sucked, but that's ok. It's paid for and still _______ to ________. For the last 80 miles I swapped Scott for his LT. Man I forgot what a couch that thing was. The cruise control kicked ass, and the Sasquach Snatch was literally "like your buttocks were being cupped by the hands of an angel" as Gwen says. It literally pulls your ass cheeks apart and cups each one individually. The feeling is enthralling to say the least. I still can't get over the "winged maxi pad" look, however. And no, this experience has not made me want to run out and buy another BMW. (I honestly do not think Paula would ALLOW me to buy another BMW) What it has done has made me appreciate the LT for what it is better....a touring bike. And a damn good one at that. I would have loved to give Johns RS a go, but it was just too dangerous today to be riding an unfamiliar bike.

3. John and Cathy have an awesome pad. Sure Johns garage is like a surgical suite but shit has he got everything you need. Plus it's a real log cabin! How friggin cool is that? So what if they have a Bobcat as a pet and their dog has self-esteem issues...semantics people, semantics.

4. I love New England. The people, the scenery, the slow pace. (although they get up at 7am on a Sat...what the hell is that about?) If my wife was not from South America I would move here in a heartbeat. Ive been to Maine, VT and NH a few times in the cage, but on a bike it's just cool as shit. You see so much more on a bike. The rain did little to dampen our spirits. Hard to be sad when I sit in a log cabin smoking a great cigar with a belly full of awesome pasta made by the spagetti nazi. Life is good. Good friends, good food, good health, good laughs.

We truly have it made.

Further postings as events warrant.
Pics when I get home.

Dinner is done. The HL group experienced marvelous Phil Marvin's magical spaghetti sauce. The maestro at work.....

Some ate the pasta with utensils

Some just couldn't wait......

Earlier in the afternoon Jim had to bolt to keep the home fires burning- OTG had some separation anxiety

But then was able to concentrate on fixing his butt pad to help him forget about Saltcreek's departure

Dave.
I had a lot of laughter reading your synopsis of the rainy day in HLII!
The
"It literally pulls your ass cheeks apart and cups each one individually."
That's is pure Charles Bukowski literature....
The FZ1 really is a de-faired R1, and maybe a FJR1300 could be better suited to your whishes.
Hoping to see the pictures.

Nice reports, thanks for sharing everyone!

Looks like a great time. I love those rides with inclament weather, so much more memorable. I groove on the challenge when weather gets funky.

You all get home safe tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after.

Gee, wonder where Phil is going next?

Best wishes to everyone !
