I think I'm going to install the Hayden thermo switch - if I have time. The instructions say to mount the probe near the return hose from the engine. I could figure out which hose is the return on a 1964 Chrysler - they had one in, one out.
I think the two smaller hoses are some kind of thermostat bypass system. Which hose does what? And where is the best place to mount the probe?

I'm pretty sure that the hose coming out of the front of the head is where you'd want to put it. That's where the one for the Moronic is... _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I would think that the area closest to the thermostat would be the warmest spot since the thermostat wants to sense the hottest coolant coming from the engine so it can open sooner than later. _________________ Rich

Thanks, guys. Maybe both of those locations are about the same - I'll have to look. Or either location should work equally well. _________________ Jim

The hottest point of the cooling system is going to be coming off of the head because that's where all of the heat is generated. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I put mine near the upper right hand corner because it was the easiest for the mounting position I chose. I don't see why it makes a difference. You are going to adjust the switch to turn the fan on according to the temp gauge on the bike. Whether the probe is in a cooler or warmer spot of the radiator shouldn't matter. You will just adjust the fan to turn on accordingly. There is more than enough adjustment available. My fan kicks on just past the mid point on the gauge and turns back off just before the mid point. That was during a 98 degree day (we've had a mild summer thus far). _________________ Jeff
