Very Happy
President Obama was visiting a primary school class. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy'? So the president asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'. One little girl stood up and offered: 'If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy? 'No,' said Obama, 'that would be an accident.' A little girl raised her hand: 'If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.' 'I'm afraid not,' explained Obama, 'That's what we would call a great loss.' The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room. 'Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?' Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: 'If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy.' 'Fantastic!' exclaimed Obama. 'That's right.. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy? 'Well,' says the boy, 'It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss... and it probably wouldn't be a f**king accident either.

I bet there are forums where jokes about terrorism and assassination would be better received.

"what's the matter... Sanders, chicken?" Apologies to the classic, Spaceballs- the movie.

I REALLY hate politics. I am the local government in Sugar Hill (N.H. towns are governed by 3 or 5 Selectmen- we have 3 and I am one of our 3). And I still HATE politics. Really. Exclamation But I have put in more than 10 years and the people keep electing me for 3 year terms.

It comes down to ONE premise- do the right thing without any agenda. Politicians everywhere should keep this MOST IMPORTANT point as a guideline.

As I've pointed out before, there are limits, even in the Dungeon. That said, I do believe in freedom of speech. I also believe people should at least be civil to one another.

Hi, John,
I like your platform! Too bad most in Washington and most state capitals in either party have forgotten this.

This hasn't been the agenda of any American administration since WWII.

Try to say, "The government of the United States exists to serve the best interests of the people" with a straight face.

I have less than zero confidence in our government "doing the right thing".
