|
|
Some months back the instrument cluster on my K11 died a horrible death.
It took a soaking, the speedo became intermittent and the gear indicator packed up and the interlock from the neutral lamp to allow the starter relay energise failed. The bike would only start with the clutch pulled in. Plus the oil pressure and charge lamps stopped working.
I bought a used cluster from a company in Germany and fitted it yesterday.
Everything works 100% with one exception….
I switch the ignition on and the ABS and lamp failure lights flash in unison.
Pulling either brake has no effect on the lights.
I pull away and both lights go out simultaneously.
Then I pull the bike on the centre stand with the motor running and disconnect the tail lamp.
The lap failure light doesn’t come on, it disconnect brake light and pull a brake, still no failure lamp.
Everything else on the cluster seems fine, the speedo and tacho seem accurate, and all the other warning lamps work
Both lamps worked fine until the cluster died so it seems this cluster may be of a similar model and has slight incompatibility.
Before I start looking at wiring schematics.. has anyone seen this before and knows of a solution ?
My opinion is the cluster is not off an identical model and seems to have a slight incompatibility.

If I'm reading this correctly, that is what is supposed to happen. As long as they stay off after you've moved off a few feet you're good to go. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

Scott, I think the question he is having is that it's not just the abs lights flashing together but is also flashing the "brake warning indicator lamp" at the same time as well. Then all 3 lamps turn off together on roll out.
Sounds to me like a incompatabilty issue.
I have a pin-out of my '95 LT inst cluster somewhere, when I lay my hands on it I can post it. _________________ Ride safe.

Oh, I see. The failure light seems to be working in reverse? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

It sounds like the telltale light is wired with the ABS lights? I had my cluster apart recently and it seemed like it would be really easy to get a pin out of line putting it back together. _________________ Jim
