April 11 we had a Saturday morning breakfast ride to Genoa, Colorado which is about 10 miles east of Limon, Co on I-70, to see the Wonder Tower. Genoa is not much more than an exit from the freeway and the Wonder Tower is along the frontage road, which was originally the main highway (86). The WT is fairly large collection of western memorabilia; Indian artifacts, old bottles, paintings, barbed wire, etc... The tower is about 4-5 stories tall and is claimed that one can see into 6 states although today is was not possible as the weather sucked.

Slightly raining but the wind was blowing like heck out of the south; rode for 85 miles sideways. Rode back to Limon from Genoa then north to Brush to Fort Collins and back south to home. Ken, Greg and me continued on with the ride; everyone else headed back to Denver after the tower. Rest of the day wasn't too bad we had the wind at our backs on the ride to Brush where wind finally died down. On one straight I got the K up to an indicated 144 which was probably about 138. Fastest I've ever had it; gotta love the brick. From Limon to Brush was 72 miles and according to Greg's GPS we did it in 42 minutes for an average speed of 102 mph. It was a great ride, no traffic flat and straight.

Ken at the Wonder Tower.

Karst. He spent 3 weeks in India riding the Hindu Kush in September, 2008. He wants to go again so if anyone is interested I can get you in contact with him.

Thanks for the pictures. A bit opposite (FLAT!) from the terrain I am used to.
Looks like the Wonder Tower complex could use a coat of paint.
