So... I have not owned a bike in 20 years. Last bike I had was a '76 550Four that I just loved. I rode it everywhere, in all kind of conditions (the weather and mine). Never had a bad experience and when th eclutch finally gave out I sold it to a kid. I still think about that bike.
Now I am in my 40's w/ a wife and two boys. Decide I need something fun in my life and since I commute 8 miles each way figured I would get a bike to ride to work. If it rains... hey, it's only 8 miles!
Bought a "94 k1100lt w/ 46k. Beautiful bike! Slept in the doghouse for a month... but it was worth it. Had to buy extra life insurance and "swear" neither of the boys will ever be on it. You see, the wife is the Director of a skilled nursing facility that regularly has recovering/incapacitated victims of motorcycle accidents... and she is one of those people that automatically assumes the worst... know what I mean?
So...
Yesterday, 75° and sunny. Riding home from work and some kid in a new GTO pulls up at the light. Light turns green, kid gets on it... ah, what the hell... I get on it. I am focused on the road and my shift points. Hit fifth, glance in the mirror to see he is just a speck, look down at the speedo and I am going 110! Holy Moses!
I was shocked and awed at how quickly and effortlessly I got going that fast. Sure makes the 'ol Honda seem like a moped.
Now, you guys are the only ones I can tell. My boys, bless their little hearts, will surely "brag" to mom and I will spend the next lifetime denying it ever took place!
It is kinda like calling in sick to go play golf and hitting a hole in one!
Damn the luck! |

We all can be "bought".
All you have to do is visit each of us and fix any brick oil leaks you find.......on second thought it will be faster and much less painful to tell your wife.
Hey, welcome.

Dont worry, you were only going 100mph. (K bike speedos usually read about 10% high.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I told my wife I did about 110 to 120 just to clean out the injecters and she told me next time I do a stupid thing like that she's selling my bike.

Seems I am lucky, I occasionally do 120 (indicated) with SWMBO on the back, sometimes, she's asleep, I kid you not. On Sunday, due to her daughter making us late, we did 113 miles in less than 2 hours & no it wasn't all motorway (Freeway) Hit 110 at times, the only whining was from the gearbox & summat about being cold.
Welcome. _________________ Regards Tim,

I did a solid 120 on the FZ1 and almost crapped myself. I can't imagine why anyone would want to go faster. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006
