While riding with SugarHillCTD today we pulled in to the parking lot of the Canterbury Store to decide where to go next and he said he didn't think my brake light was working. I said it had to be because the telltale was going out. We soon discovered that it wasn't working because it was on all the time and that fooled the telltale circuit. A little investigation revealed the front brake switch had been jerry rigged by a PO and had shorted out, keeping the bulb lit all the time. _________________ Jim

In 300+k miles, my UNjerry rigged system has not lied to me.

Jim - I won't say I check all the lights before I take off for a ride every single time, but I check them most of the time. You can reach the brake pedal with your foot, and lean back far enough to see the brake light. Or, if you can't manage that, a strong rubber band or a very small bungie will hold the front brake on while you check the brake light. It's a good idea to walk around and check all the lights fairly often. _________________ Jim
