Is there a big difference? Could the mounts be adapted fairly easily?

Which luggage rack? This one that takes the smaller 22L box:

Or the larger flat rack on LTs?

I'm wondering about the one on the RS. I haven't seen an LT, but yeah, I should've thought about the fact that they'd be different.

If it's the smaller rack for the RS, part numbers are the same for 750, 1000 and 1100.

Just be aware that the small top-box (22l?) has a bad habit of springing open at inopportune times. The lock mechanism is held in place by a large plastic nut, which is susceptible to unscrew when traveling on bumpy roads. The lock gets loose and springs open upon the bike hitting a large bump. As the lid hinges from the back, it immediately catches the wind. The contents of the top box are then free to escape. I lost 2 pairs of wet weather gear and gloves this way today on a far western outback highway (Queensland, Australia).

Pegasus,

Good reminder. I had found that nut to be slightly loose a while ago. A bit of thread locker ("Locktite") seems to have cured it- at least for now.

Also, as storage goes the 22L box is pretty small and misc. things seem to get jammed into the lock easily. Could have been a better design.

John
