I know this is an idiot question - but - I was driving Sat night, hit a bump and bike began to lose power. Provided I didn't apply power it seemed ok.
Then it cleared itself.
This morning after about 30 miles it lost power altogether. I tried starting it - no go. All the proper lights came on, the fuel pump whirred, it turned over but didn't fire at all. I pushed it to a safe place (PHEW) and then tried to start it - off it went.
Drove about 10 miles home.
So the question is why??
Please !

Check the TPS and Motronic connectors, take them off, clean them and fill the plugs with dielectric grease then reassemble.

More likely to be a switch or a connector than a temp sensor...

I always use Corrosion-X and or silicone grease on every connector I see when I'm working on the bike - and the switches. Haven't had any electrical gremlins... yet.

Tear apart the killswitch CAREFULLY (ie don't lose the little springs) and hit the contacts with some very fine emery paper, dioelectric grease and re-assemble.

90% chance it's the killswitch or sidestand switch.

Hello!
I would avoid the sand paper - the remains of the grind compound can stick to contact area and trigger erosion process. Better choice is a brass brush.

There is a BIG difference between Sand & Emery paper. Both a bad idea, however, 1200grit wet/dry or Solvol Autosol is acceptable initially if corrosion is excessive. The grit damages the contact surface. When I was a telecomms engineer, the favoured cleaning medium was stiff card such as found in a cornflake packet (not the shiny side). The secret is to clean & polish rather than abrade.

I just use a small screwdriver and scrape the crud off. Then I bend the contacts up little if possible. Hose it down with WD-40 and I'm good to go.

It's a motorcycle after all, not a space shuttle.
