Has anyone tried a Bridgestone Spitfire rear tire?

Thanx,

Looks like there's not to much input on the Spitfire.
Might be too wimpy.

Any opinions on Avon Roadriders?

I don't have any good input on tires. but on my RS I bought my first set
of roadsmart tires and love them.But..I have not tried any other to compare with. they seam to work good for me lots of traction in turns wet or dry. only paid 120.00 for the front and 140.00 for the rear.
thats my 2 cents

Michelin, Road Pilot 2's.

You won't like the smarts after they are half worn.
Pricey and worth it. Check around, U can save a little maybe.

Actually I was refering to the Avon Roadrider, not the Dunlop Road Smart. It gets pretty crazy figuring out all the hundreds of sizes, brands, and cost, not to mention the radial bias thing. Metzler 889" useally works the best for me, but cost prohibitive.

When I get a bike I try to find a tire that gets long mileage AND reasonable handling that complements that particular machine. It's mostly trade off. I don't need a 3000 mile sport tire nor a hard as a rock long milage tire.

I've only tried a Metzler 88 so far and found out that it is hard as a rock and gets sub par milage. I just mounted the Roadrider and hope it will fill the bill. I'll post the results

Any opinions?

Ragman

I have had K1100rs bikes for Over 16 Years the one I have now has been with me for 13 years and I have never come across the Spitfire rear tyre. However the K1100RS was designed to run on a radial. OE was either Bridgestone or Metzler. I never Liked the Metzlar so went with Bridgestone Started with BT50 and currently running the 020 which are very good. Normally get 9000 miles out the rear as run with ballast (wife ) on pillion. if you run solo expect less. About to change tyres and move on to Battleaxe 021 which I have found to be very good on my K1200S

Regards

Hello Ragman,

I'm running Avon Roadriders on my LT and am quite happy with them so far.

Rear tire AVON Roadrider Bias Ply tires 140/80-17 DATE 9/6/2008, Installed @ 43675mi
Front tire AVON Roadrider Bias Ply tires 110/80-18 DATE 11/14/08 46213 mi

I've used Metz in the past and like these better.

I understand that AVON also has a set of radial tires available for this bike. I'll likely try those as the next set

Don't know if they're available on that side of the pond but I'm running an Avon Azaro 140/80 ZR17 rear (don't bother with the Avon front - wobble at slow speed) and Pilot Road 2 110/80 ZR 18 front, fantastic grip wet or dry, softer ride, radials (more rubber on the road), and 4000mls on they still look like new. Got this combo from a more experienced KLT owner who has already run a couple of sets.

I don't have more than 1500 to 2000 mile on my front tire and the rubber is so soft I looks like It's gonna wear out fast. that's just a guess on miles because my odometer does'nt work yet.

Thanx for all the useful input.

I'll post an opinion on the Roadrider as the miles pilke up.

The pic of the front RR was not very in encouraging. Time and miles will tell the story...............

Thanx again,
Rag

PS- I know, I know BigO. I haven't posted a pic yet. Soon.
