A friend of mine, and of many here in Colorado, was killed Thursday evening April 24, 2009. Liz Majors and several other friends were ridding together Thursday evening. Liz and Greg stopped for dinner at Johnson's Corner on I-25 near Loveland, Co. and left the diner around 10:00 p.m. They were riding south on I-25 when they were diverted to a detour around some construction on the freeway. Cars were backing up and coming to a stop on the off-ramp detour when Liz and Greg got there. They too were coming to a stop in a staggered fashion when a woman driving a Toyota zoned out and hit Liz dead on at about 40 mph. Liz was killed outright. Her bike or the car, police are figuring this one out, swiped Greg's bike and he ended up off in the left median (unhurt). Liz's bike was thrown onto the right median where it caught fire an burned to almost nothing. The Toyota then slammed into the car that was in front of Liz and Greg.

So far all that is known is that the car driver was inattentive. Don't know if drugs, alcohol or cell phone distraction were involved. Irregardless Liz is gone.

It was a pleasure to be in Liz's company and ride with her. She will be greatly missed in the Colorado BMW community. She was a great friend to all who knew her.

Liz was a very accomplished and experienced rider.

Be careful out there it can happen in an instance.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Not much she could have done to prevent that one.
