I'm trying to figure out if a lift like the Sears one below will work for my K1100. Since the balance point is near the center stand, it's not clear to me how this could work. Has anyone used one?

I have a similar one I bought at a local Cycle Gear shop on sale. I wish the support bars were about 3" longer. As it is, they are barely wide enough for the Harley.

I did use it near the very front the other day to keep the front wheel off the ground just barely, but the centerstand had most of the weight.

I've never tried to lift the entire K1100 with it, though.

Read the reviews.

Lots and lots of failures.

I was seriously considering what looks to be a similar product a few years ago. I passed on it because I don't like the idea of putting the weight of the entire machine on the finned aluminum oil pan. There is no frame to lift the bike by. The only lift I can see working would be the table-type that lifts the whole machine by the wheels.

I think not... I got one of those things - got it home and decided there was no way I was going to put my bike up on it. I find it handy for moving cast iron clawfoot bath tubs and getting them in and out of the truck...

I use a lift with my Harley. There's no way to get a lift under a K bike unless you fabricate some type of cradle. I wouldn't lift the bike using the aluminum pan.

That was at a buddy's place in Phoenix. I was touring and needed new tires.

At home I use either a scissor jack or floor jack under the oil sump to lift the front end.

My buddy in SF has a great setup. Hydraulic lift. every Craftsman tool known to man and an air compressor.

Last spring I put the LT up on that lift - given how topheavy and heavy the bike is it made me very nervous. I took it off the lift in the evening because I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing the LT was on the lift. Rolling Eyes
