|
|
Didn't want to go with LED mirror arrows on the RS so poked around to find something smaller. I ended up buying a pair of small 1.5" tall 5 LED bars that I'll mount in the upper outer corner of the RS mirror glass.
They cost $29.99 a pair! Plus another $9 for shipping. They showed up today and they are nice and bright so I think the price, though steep, is justified.
I got the red ones with a clear housing.
I've got some other little projects to do next week and I'll post some video of them once I have them installed. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I did this mostly for added turn signal visibility for city street and slab riding. I'm happy with the results and they don't take up any noticable real estate on the mirrors.

You also buy add-ons that make them both running and signal lights but I didn't want to mess with wiring them - at the bottom of the page.
You can get bigger ones too (the flexible arrays) but I opted for the smallest ones they had. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Did you have to cut the mirror?
Could be done in an KLT?
I liked!

I took the turn signal lens off and drilled two small holes near the top for the wires. By titling the mirror glass all of the way down, I was able to feed the wires without having to remove the mirror glass.
You could probably do an LT but you 'd have to run wiring to the mirror somehow.
rkildu put these on his LT
I copied Larry's idea and put Turn 6 LEDs on the upper front corners of my fairing lowers. I have them wired so they serve as running lights but they also flash off when the turn signal turns on so they double as turn signals.
The Turn 6 LEDs match the lines of the bike quite well. I have amber with amber LEDs on my bike but here's what they look like:

And here's another option which I considered but thought it was too expensive:

Update: I've now done some around town riding with these. Since they're birght and right on the mirrors, they make excallent turn signal cancel reminders. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
