Hi All, We’ve just had a long weekend, I took Friday off and made it a nice extra long weekend.
We took the K11 to the seaside, Amamzintoti, nr Durban, a nice 650km ride from Joburg. Durbs has a sub tropical climate. The humidity was nasty compared to home, we were keen to get back for some cooler weather.
This pair of trikes were spotted at a stop on the freeway while heading to the coast. I suppose there is no limit to the human imagination.
A little further on we passed a place I’ve never been able to pronounce, don’t expect I’ll ever be able to either.
The view from my buddies place, just home he doesn’t move to the development over the road. It would be a nightmare hauling the K up and down the driveways.
The view from another buddies place, the K was parked on the road and we walked down the driveway.
We visited yet another friend 100km down the coast near Port Shepstone
What fun I had getting the K to his place.
A nice cellulose plant on the way home.
Fortunately the clouds dissipated, we did get a little rain on the last 30km of the ride home.

Hello Malcom...
Nice pics from you ( as usual ) !!! Just envious of your ride. We've had only a day or two where one could tenuously take a bike out on the road. Loved the 'teardrop trailer" and the Vulcan 1500 Trike. As a Vulcan owner I've thought about the "trike idea" for my V-twin 1500, but so far its just an idea.
In looking at your town " where the folk are", reminds me of a typical sign one sees hanging over the Stammtisch ( reserved table for regulars ) in Germany in small local pubs where usually only locals gather. ( in Odenwaldgebiet east of the Rhine ) The sign reads: "" dohoggediedaimmerdahogge "" ... it literally means in dialect. "Here sit those who always sit here "... suppose every language has its funny local constructs...eh? Just what is that language anyway,, it certainly is not Afrikaans?
Best regards and really love your trip reports,,,keep 'em coming!

Hey OTG..WTF is GFD ??
SA could be the shark attack capitol of the world !!
Megga shoals of sardines run down the east coast each year, it aptly called the Sardine Run.
Naturally it attracts a multitude of predators.
Here are a couple of pic’s off da web.
OTG’s dino sized sharks could be photo shopped !!!
Compare them to the size of the trucks.

GFD=Gold final drive.
Great pics! I have a healthy respect/fear of sharks. Anything that can eat me I steer clear of. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

GFD.. thats a gem
Sharks dont spook me, I dont ride in the surf.
These preditors give me more BTM's than I'd admit to...
Read this....
Drunk Driver Had 49 Children In 16-Seat Taxi
A South African minibus taxi driver five times over the legal blood alcohol limit at breakfast time was arrested on Wednesday for transporting 49 children in a 16-seat vehicle.
The 26-year-old man was pulled over at a routine check-point in KwaZulu-Natal province, where traffic officials found the children, aged between three and 13, crammed on top of each other for the morning ride to school.
“The man is now behind bars,” Colin Govender of the Road Traffic Inspectorate said. The driver is due to appear in court on Thursday.
With the soccer World Cup just months away, police are cracking down on rogue taxi operators in the hope that foreign visitors will use minibuses to get around the country.
Millions of mostly black South Africans use minibus taxis to travel between townships and cities, although many of the vehicles are barely roadworthy and fatal accidents are common.
Rumour has it HIACE is an acronym used by Toyota ..
