My throtle sticks when it gets warm obviously the heated grips but today just warmed up in the sun and it wont close under the spring.
i think the grip might be rubbing on the bar end weight, but i cant work out how to remove the weight as it doesnt have a scew in the end as per the manual? |

Just pull the black plastic cap off while turning it. (w/o knocking the bike over) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Don't bother with the weight, loosen the screw holding the throttle/master cylinder assembly and move it in just enough to fix the binding. You should also clean and lube the throttle tube.

How do you clean and lube the throttle tube without removing the bar end?
If you do pull the throttle tube back (after disconnecting the throttle cable)under the metal plate)to get some lube in there, be VERY VERY careful if you have heated grips. Feed some of the extra heated grip wire the the hole in the middle of the handlebars before pulling the tube careully outward. If you break the connection where the wires connect yo the heated grip element you will be hosed. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

It was two separate statements.
1. Adjust the throttle assembly so you have some clearance at the bar end weight.
2. Remove the bar end weight and clean/lube the throttle tube if you still have a slow throttle return.
Sorry I wasn't clear enough the first time. _________________ Mick McKinnon

thanks guys i took the weight off but noticed how delicate the heated grip wires are and that it didnt want to move so i simply put a thin washer between the weight and the inner part worked perfectly no more sticking throtle |
