I have come to the conclusion that I am not as trusting on my mechanical abilities on a bike as I am on a cage. I will be taking the 93K1100LT, half torn apart, to a wrench. Any recommendations for the area of 95691?

Well first off, what's the matter with it. That may make a difference whom it goes to.

Thanks Scott,
I'm in the middle of a clutch assembly and a spline lube.

Without paint marks, how does one be assured the clutch assembly is properly installed?

You just have to guess if there are no paint marks. Did you look on the edges too? Some times they hide them pretty well.

When asked about this very problem when I did mine a few weeks ago, our local parts supplier said that the clutch parts are are all prebalanced nowadays, and the marks are for use during the actual balancing process, but not removed after it's done.

My plates had marks of differing styles and colours - sometimes three on one piece, so this would seem to make sense. Apparently they use different colours if the plate goes back for a second attempt, and this is why some have one, two or three paint marks of different colours in places apparently unrelated to marks on other plates.

My LT has now done 3500 miles since I swapped the clutch, and no problems so far with vibration or other weird stuff.

I asked a UH-1 pilot in Vietnam about the several bullet holes in his rotor, and being out of balance as he was patching them with 2" squares of “hundred-mile-an-hour tape”. He said "half the time it gets better".

You have a 50/50 chance for improvement.
