Not a poll or anything too formal, but maybe members of this forum could post and let us know what their seat is (the one on your K, not the one in your pants). Pictures would be great also. Plus a short description and why you like/dislike the seat.
Here's my reason(s)-
1- Want a better seat that would keep Cathy from "bump-creeping" into me. I have posted about this before.
2- Would like to raise my seating position a bit- to straighten my knees slightly, especially while 2-up which limits my sliding back. Yeah, I have posted about this too.
So lets see 'em, please. Thanks. _________________ John & Cathy

corbin dual canyon...
no good for either of us... rider and passenger... nothing on earth is as hard as this nightmare... thigh pinch... knee pain... it was over real soon... passenger would slide 100% of the time...
the duck russell...
this seat was near perfect... except passenger would slide all the time... so we had a seat guy in spokane build up the front of the passenger area and all was good... turned out to be mickis favorite... but she didnt tell me that until i sold it...
pre build up...
post build up... hard to see... but he put 3" on the front of the passenger area...
montana russell...
the riders area was too low for me... the passenger area was good for micki... it had lotts o butt cushion so she didnt slide much except under hard downgrade braking...
our present russell...
near perfect for both... rider and passenger... passenger gets tail bone pain sometimes after a day of goat trails and gravel roads... no passenger slide unless im doing something stoopid...
corbin dual tour...
not comfortable for us... rider and passenger... hard as asphalt... passenger slides forward under braking and downgrades...

Funny I was thinking about starting a thread about the best seats for 2 up riding.
As Johnny said the dual Canyon sucks for 2 up and is hard as a rock.
It's a shame that the best seats look like flying maxi pads. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I agree and I always hesitate to make changes to the bike that look awkward (like our Aeroflow windshield- works great, looks dumb).
But if our rumps are happy it might be worth it.
Johnny- the seats that you have "rejected" due to passenger sliding forward. They look like they would keep that from happening, especially compared to our comfort seat http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5391. But I guess what appears to be good may not work well in actual use.
Any others have some input. Our tushes really want to know. _________________ John & Cathy

trial and error... they all look like the passenger wont slide... but mountian roads... blind curves... downgrades... heavy braking... i guess its physics...

Hey, if I can loft the front wheel on a regular schedule, it'll keep Cathy from sliding forward. Hmmmm- less passenger sliding forward but more clutch jobs. Gotta think this over.........Kind of like a counter-offer...
Vinny Gambini: Oh, a counter-offer. That's what we lawyers - I'm a lawyer - we lawyers call that a counter-offer. This is a tough decision here. Get my ass kicked or collect $200. Let me think... I could use a good ass-kickin', I'll be very honest with you... nah, I think I'll just go with the two hundred. _________________ John & Cathy

From among various stock seats, a couple of Corbins and two Russells, the best one was a Russell custom fitted to us mounted on a R100RT. The Russel I have for sale right now was OK for me but my wife was crowded. When I checked it against the stock seat the rider had an inch more room and the passenger and inch less. So you have to be careful buying second hand Russells. We are back to the stock comfort seat now on the Brick. Seat comfort is super important on long hauls.
Often a seat with a small problem can be fixed by a good seat maker. The best one I know is Mr. Ed's in Albany, Oregon. Don Weber there can cure most problems.

The Corbin saddle on my bike is made tolerable on long rides with the aid of sheepskin.

So is mine, but SWMBO likes her bit So much better than stock & the Corbin is narrower than stock close to the tank, so I don't need bow legs to reach the tarmac.
IMNSHO it all depends whether ones butt is the same shape as the seat one buys. _________________ Regards Tim,

I'd show you a photo of mine, but many of the archived photos are gone and it's too much hassle to figure out what photo server I put those on.
Anyway, I had Rick Meyer make a leather saddle for my KRS. I have been very happy with it. Several long rides have proven the comfort for me. Rick's saddles are somewhat sculpted, but the side "wings" are less pronounced than the Russels'. Here's a photo of one similar to mine:

NOW we are talking. That looks like it is comfortable (as you stated) and doesn't have the "recliner" look (sorry j o)
As a side note- IMHO, there are certain things that look good on bikes, some things are just OK (the Aeroflow I have and Russell seats) and some things that just never look good. The primary contributor to that third group are those rounded top boxes that look like they are an afterthought, perched up high and to the rear (Givi?)
Example: A local guy has a Ducati ST3 or 4. Nice looking ride (even though it is yellow- what was he thinking?? RED, RED!). The rig looks great with matching factory hard sidecases but he has this round top case that completely ruins the look of a very sleek bike.
Anyway, I think that I will be contacting Rick Meyer late this Fall.
Thanks, Klinker _________________ John & Cathy
