Hi.
Are a bit puzzled by my -94 K1100LT/SE w/o cat. ( german version )
Having a backfire ( silencer flames ) at giving gas after enginerbeaking.
One tips was to search for air-leaks in the inlet.
Runned first into that there are no airflow meeter in the airbox or anywhere. Only sensors are throttle position, airtemp and HAL-sensor on crankshaft.
Have to learn more about this.
Then found out that the crankcase vent tubes runnes into the airbox, where there are a cylindric unit. From there the crankcase vent tube run to a tube behind the throttle houses and have a small outlet in the upper part of the throttle houses. There are a small tube runing from near the cooling system of the engine to the cylindric unit.
Don't know how this is working.
And the real strange, can't find this arrangement in either etk or the workshop manual. Seems that it's only for a minor part of produced K11. Q. what versions.
Finally found cracks in 2 of the 4 rubbertubes between the throttle houses and the plastic tubes ontop of the cylinderheads. Will renew them together with the o-rings on the injectors and all other air tubes of rubber.
Can be that the beemer are 14 years and need a bit on renewing.
Hmm. only 90kkm in 14 years, making 7kkm a year. That's not so much. My prevoius bike a -76 R100RS made 290kkm in 28 years.
Have to hit the road to make use of the bike.

Thanks.
Explains it all.
Made the same unit on my R100RS with Krausser 4V engine.
Was needed on that engine. |
