I had a fantastic time, cruising SP and countryside with Guilherme and Adriana and their friends. Such hospitality..
Taken by Adriana as pillion to G's Harley.
Now we look forward (Andrea and I) to seeing you guys in the UK so we can run out to North Wales, up to the Lakes (north west) and then a circle through Scotland and back home. I have the route planned already! Alternatively.. can I tempt you with a slip down to Dover, channel tunnel to France, through Germany, Austria and on to our house in Hungary? Back via Venice, Milan and Turin?
And of course if anyone from the great wide open spaces over the pond would like to join us... _________________ Cheers, Steve H _______________________________________

Today, after a heavy working night.......with some bad hurt motorcycle riders accidents, and an 02:00 am to 04:30 am surgery, I take the KLT for a ride with some good friends.
We met in an Petrobras gas station.
A great looking 1996 HD Heritage Softail Classic.
Some of my friends, from the left: Lars, Luciano and Fabio.
The KLT, ready to run.
Anyone knows this guy?? Was a famous F1 driver...
The Petrobras Gas Company Mascot, called Maguary (Ma-Gua-RRi).
After 100miles, we stopped just top talk.
The road to Piracicaba.
João, the R1200GS Adventure rider. This guy went 5 times to Machu Pichu, Peru, and 3 times to Ushuaia!! He rides almost 60.000 miles a year!!
Anir, owner of the R1150GS, trying a Road King.
A funny guy with a motorized bicycle!
We arrived in the Cancian Restaurant, to lunch.
Parmegian Stake. A stake with cheese and red tomato sauce.
Chicken stake with fries.
Destilled water with Malt...
The restaurant Snacks Menu. Anyone understand anything??!!
The bikes, ready to come home.

Now I had some time to change the KLT' tires.
I choose Bridgestone BT021, front and Rear.
Look, like The Jetson's car!
Inspecting the final drive hub.
Here the rear tire. I put a 150mm tire, insted of the 140. Fits perfectly. This is a Hirschhorn tip!
The front tire is the same type, an Bridgestone BT21 110mm.
The bike.
And here, in an glass wall in the tire shop, some decals of Brazillian MCs.
And now the KLT is ready to come back to the roads again, with new shoes...

To start: shit happens....
This week I stopped the Accord to a steering box job, and I was using the KLT everyday since last monday to go to work.
Today I left home early, about 05:30 AM to the hospital and I'll have to go at night to another hospital to work until tomorrow, in a midnight shift.
About 06:30 PM, during a light rain, in a heavy traffic, suddenly the left hand lever lost action, and the bike locked in second gear, and all I could do was stop on a near gas station.
In an closer look, I found this:
So, what to do?
I called the insurance company and asked for an tow truck.
After 1 hour:
And if you looks carefuly, you will see a great mistake in the picture!!!!
Found?
Here:
The left engine guard, in the rubber mounted studs (I didn't know that the studs are rubber mounted!!!), brooked all the 3 studs and the KLT fell to the right side!
Lucky, the bike didn't fell to the ground, from the truck step board.
Here the brooked points:
The right fairing was damaged:
And the right side case mount lock was pulled from the case:
So, one lesson today, for me:
"Never fix the KLT on the engines guards."

Engine guards, I ain't got no stinkin' engine guards!
Sorry for your troubles. All this talk of clutch cable failures has me worried... I think I should carry a spare (?). _________________ Steve

Guilhereme - so sorry to read about your troubles. No, you can't tie the bike down with the engine guards. I used to use soft ties around the forks just above the triple clamp - then connect the tie downs to the soft ties. If you can't find soft ties there, I'll send you a pair. Now I use the soft ties on the rear - I figure that will hold it better. Soft ties are sort of shaped like a figure 8 - they loop around and then through.
I keep a spare clutch cable on the bike - and I try to lube the cable ends once or twice a year. _________________ Jim

wow, that's bad luck indeed. I've been meaning to have the clutch cable changed for ages now.. your story convinces me to do it while I'm in Germany, so from your misfortune, others might gain.
Hope you get it all sorted out quickly and someone else pays! _________________ Cheers, Steve H _______________________________________

I"m of the opinion that the best thing is to tie down the front at the fork brace. That way the forks aren't loaded up and the bike can ride on it's suspension. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Yes. |
And a throttle cable as well.
Even if you put the new one on the bike, take the old one and store in the tail. That way you wont ever need it. _________________ Ride safe.
