Just put a ME88 on the rear for long life.

Question; What's the longest lasting tire for my K1100Lt??

One that stays in the garage Rolling Eyes

Depends totally upon how you ride, and what level of grip you expect.
There are some dreadful Chinese clone tyres out there - $60 and 15,000 miles, but they don't go round bends.

Here we go with another round of navel-gazing.

I wasn't asking about cheap tires, just long mileage tires.

What's the deal on "navel grazing", old chap?

Navel Gazing = thirty responses, a different answer from each member, and you none the wiser Crying or Very sad

----

To repeat an answer to a tyre thread of last week :

BT45s give the best trade off between handling and wear IMHO .
Michelin Macadams are poo.

Metzeler Lazertec is the longest lived tyre I have used on a Beemer, but they are dubious in the wet.

So, there's your starter for 10 - who's next Wink

I'm down to Metz Laser-tec or Me88.

How would you guys compare the two?

I have 11k on my BT-020s.

It's looking like I'll get 12k to 13k.

The back is wearing evenly, and is still very controllable at low lean angles.

The fromt is wearing much more evenly than the Z4, but has bumps on the the side blocks. So, if I go "no hands" at less than 50MPH, the handlebars shake a little.

I'm very satisfied with these tires. BTW, most of the miles on these are at between 80 and 100 MPH, on the slab.

I think this tire is supersceded by the BT-021.

You have an RS, which has wider rims than the LT. Do not fit 020s on an LT as they're radials and the LTs rims aren't wide enough for radials.

Yes there are a couple of possible exceptions (Avon Azaro ST springs to mind) but certainly not the 020, as even if you could get them in exactly the right width, they don't have the weight rating for an LT.

The only Bridgestone tyres suitable for a K1100LT are the Battlax BT45s and they wear out quicker than ice cream on a summer's day. Cool

Holy cow - that's a lot of miles out of those.

I'm going tp put some BT020s on my LT - with an RS rear wheel. Larry in LA did this with his LT and some Dunlops and says it's much better.

From my experience with the Azaros vs Mac 50s on my LT, I think radials on an LT are a huge improvement in handling and stability.
