After seven glorious months here, it is nice to see a steady stream of new faces joining K11OG
There are many UK and ROI riders, and it makes sense for us to post some basic details.
This will allow easy comms, potential to meet up and to share any spare parts or tools which other members may need
So, don't be shy - post a reply ! _________________ C1 200 (2001)

I'm down on the northern outskirts of the smoke with a huge toolbox [at work] and a good selection at home, can't remember what specialist BM tools I've got stashed in the cupboard but ask and I will go seek.
I am up in Cheshire about 59 miles from Bakewell from the 7 August for a week with a few mates so any suggestion on local attractions are welcome. _________________ Fat Ba***d with a K1100LTse

Martin Ellis, near Mansfield, Notts.
Early 50s, severely unfit but so ******* what?
BMW Club Director, Forum administrator and section social secretary.
Delusions of grandeur...experienced megalomaniac
Competent spanner man, borne largely out of reluctance to pay for a mechanic and a firm belief that if you want something doing properly, do it yourself.
Average 12,000 bike miles per year.
Consider Tim (above) a very good friend, and he lives only 25 minutes away.
Confirmed 'K' man. Had a David Brown Cropmaster once so feel I would know what any 'R' bike will be like, therefore have no intention of buying one. (took one for a test ride once and was severely underwhelmed .
Like to wind up owners of 'R' bikes, which in reality are not quite as bad as I make out .
Only had two BMWs so far, a K100 (called Trigger)
Which I repainted Blue, thus..
and this one, which I'm still riding

Hi
Am in Shepperton, not far from Guildford and a nice hack down to Bahnstormers every so often.
Do as much as possible of my own servicing, but limited garage space for too much spanner wielding. _________________ Bikes in garage

Just outside Aylesbury, 15 years riding (and dropping) Ducs in Italy (10 years ago), now convinced K11! Doing about 20k pa.
Always happy to help a rider in need though my enthusiasm isn't matched by my technical ability or know-how.
No garage, few tools but plenty of liquor and a real fire.
Applied linguist and proud of it - 59.

I'm Stuart from Brighton.
Im 30 and work as a medical despatch rider.
I've only recently started this cushy medical job and have been a despatch rider in various places in and around London for about 10 years - and a pizza delivery boy before that and since before I left school.
I'm used to having company bikes and so not done any of my own servicing really. But now I've got my own K1100LT and want to learn how to do it all myself.
And like hirschhs, I've got no garage and very little tools - but I haven't got a real fire _________________ 1994 K1100LT |

how languages are created / learned / taught / develop / work / an' all that.
Proud of it because we sometimes get a rough deal in certain sections of the 'practical' literature for locking ourselves away and 'pronouncing'. I don't, I get my hands dirty as it were.

Sneaking in on the hairy edge ? Wot you dont have a K11 ?
Help how did I get here ? I drive a 1995 Grinnall Scorpion with a 16v K1 engine and I am across the small pond in Co. Meath Ireland however I have found this site great for info and links and everyone on this site to be helpfull and in most cases knowledgeable.
At the moment I have a 1984 GPz900r A1 , a 1957ish C15/B25 trials project bike , remains of a V50 guzzi which will power an Osprey two man hovercraft all on going projects however being 43 with three kids means I rarely finish things as quickly as I would like.
Regards

Adrian Stone, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Closer to 50 than 40, 30+ years riding. Limited competence in wielding a spanner, mostly as it usually goes wrong...a few tools and a garage
Have owned alsorts of BMWs and European/British bikes.
I'll be at the BMW Club AGM - my first one in 15 years of club membership as it's local and there's camping!

Castle Donington, Derby.
Embracing midlife crisis - K1100LT is my first proper bike (not counting 4 months with a twist'n'go Peugeot I got to get me through my 1st year's teacher training placements last year after 20 years of working for a living). I need something big, as I'm 6'4", and cheap, as I'm now a trainee teacher. I know nothing about bikes but am learning fast. K was an Ebay non-runner, ex-police then owned by succession of squaddies, then left outside for 2+ years. Got it through its MOT but its been unreliable so far; can't think why. Its getting better with each bit of work I do on it (now running on 3 pots) but it'll probably never win prizes.
Met Tim (Midlands) briefly outside Pidcocks Long Eaton last Sept as I was looking for my first bits for the K. _________________ '93 K1100LT (tatty and ex-police - the bike, not me!!.)
K - 75,000 miles, me - 4000 miles. |
