I've got a new exhaust on my bike now with no leaks, and I just wanted to say thankyou to DaveVoorhis and chopper_harris for alerting me to the eBay listing - a life saver!
Incidentally, has anyone else noticed that the exhaust seems to be under quite a lot of tension when refitting? Maybe that's why they crack.. _________________ 1992 K1100RS - Red and gold. |

I agree - the pipes are under a lot of tension and stainless steel doesn't like tension.
I am sure a few $/£ could be made if someone sourced clamps/heat-proof flexible connectors to save on £50 welding jobs

Mine didn't appear to be under any tension, however, it still cracked. I read somewhere recently, that a common cause is the deterioration of the mounting rubber. Stainless also dislikes vibration, it work hardens quicker than mild steel. I shall be ordering a new rubber, got to be cheaper than a new exhaust (muffler). _________________ Regards Tim,
