i have been reading where fuel stops are 163 miles apart... no fuel between orofino id and lolo mt... im not sure we can make that 2 up...
the farthest we have ever gone 2 up was 160 miles... and that was totally full on center stand in the beginning to a spoon full left in the end...
your thoughts...

Jo you could absolutely make that.
Just keep it easy on the RPMs and carry a liter of petrol just in case.

Edit: So, you're willing to go out on a bike and put both of your lives at risk but you're worried about running out of gas?  (Not trying to be an a** here, just trying to get you to put things into perspective.)

Made that trip last year on the Harley, fully loaded for camping, etc. Didn't have a problem and my K1100LT gets 30 more miles a tank than the Harley...
Poke around with google maps and look for gas in various towns along the route. It'll find about 1/3 of the stations. A GPS will find more. Your eyes will find em all, but it might be too late by then...

I can't image that there is no longer a gas station in Kooskia either, although its been a long time since I was last through there. Kooskia is about 110 - 120 miles from Lolo Pass.
Fill'er up in Kooskia then you can go fast on a seemingly endless curvy road.

I have had 240 GB miles from a UK model, whilst on holiday in the Fatherland. We usually get 175 ish, two up (32 stones) with camping gear, cruising at 80 where possible. If you are really worried, I suggest you keep it below 5K revs, light throttle & don't forget to raise the tyre pressures for two up. You could always fill your hip flask with premium

thank you very much...
pulled into the flying j super 8 in lewiston id a couple hours ago... got the bug eye brick on the ground and all checked out...
saturday... the rattlesnake and hells canyon...
sunday... lolo pass...
our last rides until we ride to glacier national from bonners ferry id on july 19 and 20... unless we score a brick for iowa...
my front is almost to the wear indicators... hoping it makes it ok... about another 2000 mikes... until we get to seattle on july 26...

Top off if you see gas anywhere after 40 miles in from Lewiston.
If you want to camp, I stopped a couple miles west of Lowell and got this gem of a campsite:
I didn't put my bike in this picture, but I was there!
There is no gas in Lowell, but there is in Kamiah and Kookia (at least according to google maps), which should do you just fine. Kamiah would be first and it's 65 miles out of Lewiston of your 206 mile ride to Lolo. There's gas in Lolo, I tanked up there on my trip last year. I had to have tanked up in either Kamiah or Kooskia. 206 miles is out of range on the Harley and cutting it REAL close on the K1100LT.

lolo... its gonna have to be another day...
we ended up doing about 600 miles yesterday... the last 200 at night in the rain...
my dash lights and head light we cutting in and cutting out most of the way... a drain tube that came off... coolant was leaking on the muffler by the peg when on the center stand... it smells of gasoline... and is dirty beyond my wildest dreams...
so... today is gonna be a day of a little maintaintence... after i watch the indycar race from newton iowa... so yesterday was our last ride before we get back at the end of july...

Mine did that at the end of a 300 mile trip with the tank half full.

no visual leaks or anything... never smelled that way before... its a strong smell too... last night and this morning after sitting for a few hours...

The vent??? Mine also has smelled of gas. But only when it's been dripping out the vent drain hose.
I'm sure that the way you two ride, BTTW-WOT, your probably causing a natural siphon of the fuel out the ventline. That would also explain your lower MPG.
