Just happened to be going between buildings at work today and saw an R bike going by with what looked like training wheels on it. Little fenders and everything. Goofiest looking setup. Anyone else seen one of these?

Actually during last week's "Bike Week" here in N.H., I saw two. If you don't do more than a passing glance- it looks like a trike. But if you get more than a quick look, it is exactly like training wheels.

Maybe a lesser cost way to get trike characteristics without permanently cutting up a bike.

FWIW I helped an older rider/friend put one of these kits on his HD
two years ago. He was unable to feel his feet anymore & wanted to
keep riding. It turned out that he had cancer & has been undergoing
chemo/rad therapy for the last year. If he hadn't installed the training
wheels & suffered the insensitive "hey, are you riding with training
wheels" BS from the Greater riding population he may have suffered
an accident or never had the enjoyment of taking his bride for a ride.

I know all you here a going to live forever, but cut older riders some
slack when you see a similar eqqipped bike in the future please...

If we can't make fun of motorcycle training wheels here, then I give up.
I'm putting the K on Ebay and buying a Prius.

Anyone who needs training wheels is incapable of passing the motorcycle riding test and get a motorcycle license. (In state of California you have to be able to execute a pretty tight radius figure of 8 in addition to a whole bunch of additional low speed exercises).

Seems to me that such a rider is an unsafe rider.

I would not want my dad driving a car on public streets anymore once his vision is impaired (even though HE thinks he can still drive). Likewise, I would not want anyone riding a motorcycle if they have lost feeling in their feet. How are they supposed to shift, and engage the rear brake safely?

OK I wont make fun of them (if you insist) but can we simply get them banned and off the roads?

Actually, due to the design of most "training wheels" - fixed in place - it is very easy to lose drive traction or, even worse, rear braking ability. Numerous people have found themselves in dangerous and even life threatening situations when their "training wheels" lifted their drive/braking wheel off the surface and they lost traction.
