Mr. Scott has filed his damage report.
Actually the bike is in overall pretty decent condition. In fact, I'm shocked at how little damage there is. Gwen would've done a much better job of crashing this I think.
Mileage: 52,613
Left side:
Looks like the fairing took the brunt of the damage. One of the mirror mounting pins actually got ground into the fairing. Surprirsiingly no damage to the rear, gear shift lever unbent, exhaust nice and shiny without a scratch, turn signal fine too.
Left fairing lower cracked and scraped.
It's strange but it looks like neither end of the axle hit the pavement so it looks like the forks are OK. Same thing with the belly pan - shows 50k of wear but no accident damage.
(Yes, I have the side covers. I took them off before trailering it home.)
Here's the pin. I actually had to dig it out of the fairing a little to take this pic:
Right side:
Mirror gone but the mounting plate looks good. I don't think the bike actually slid on the right side. From the fairing damage and no rash on the cam cover, I'm guessing the tow truc kdriver probably dropped it on the right side when removing it from the accident scene. Pegs and final drive have no damage.
I'm about 99.9999% sure the frame is still straight.
Front brake master is empty -probably toast but I've he gave me a spare he had. Once I put a wheel on it to roll it off the trailer, I'll be having to use the clutch for rolling it back off the trailer.
Since the accident was caused by a flat rear, that rim has several dents an is probably toast. He gave me a silver rear wheel that he'd gotten off of eBay. The fornt looks good though.
Looks like the left bag took a lot of damage. Missing the latch that holds it on, cracked inner and way scratched outer:
So, overall I think this bike is in pretty good shape - much better than I expected. I'll have to get a DOT approved headlight and turn signals for it and receipts from real companies because to get the salvage title rebranded to rebuilt (i.e. legal to ride) I have to proivde the state patrol with receipts from real companies.
This headlight looks pretty decent, is DOT approved and it's around $120.
Then I have to find some turn signals too..... _________________ 93 LT (x2)

It was really a pain to load this thing on the trailer with a flat last evening. After I get if off the trailer in the alley, I still have to move it up a hill.
So I thought the best plan would be to try to get it running after it hasn't for 2+ years. Then roll it off the trailer, swap on a good rear and then ride it up into my rear driveway.
So I spent about 45 minutes today on the bike. Dropped in a new battery, siphoned the tank close to empty and put some Techron and gas in it. It a-l-m-o-s-t caught on the first push of the starter button. Tried a little choke on the second but it sounded rich. Third time it started right up and , though a teency bit rough, ran like a champ.
Once I pop some new plugs in it, synch the TBs and run some Techron through it it should be humming quite nicely. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

If I remember right, your were looking into making it up as a street fighter bare bones final project.
I am looking for a replacement stock windshield. I have a 93 K1100RS & was wondering if they were a fit AND if you might be willing to sell if it's not all busticated.
I could not tell from the pictures.
Thanks for all the pictures & good luck on the project. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

I'm pulling the fairing apart today. I think the windscreen is good. You can have first dibs on it. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

OMFG! I've never seen one oof these actually still working. The light in the hazard light switch actually lights up. The early ones has a lamp in them but I've never seen one that was actually still working.
And the ABS brain works too. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Sounds like that bike already paid for itself with the good parts on it.
Hell the tank alone could fetch 2-300.
Nice score, and love the paint job....hope you keep it. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I decided to put her down. Toom uch hassle to get the title switched to rebuilt. I decided if I really wanted one I could just part it out and buy one with a clean title. And having an RS, an LT and my K75S project I really don't need another K. Thinking of buying a DRZ400 though. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
