I want to replace my 8 exhaust bolts when I put on the Remus but can't for the life of me find them on the MAXBMW diagrams.

Anyone?

I have the nuts and gaskets....which is good to know because I had no idea there was gaskets on there, I thought it just fitted in the block.

Hi, OTG,
WHY do you want to replace the studs? Is something wrong with them? They have probably been in the head, soaking up hot and cold cycles, since the bike was built in '92 or '93. Are you prepared if one (or more) snaps while you are trying to remove it? I can see changing the nuts and gaskets while replacing the exhaust system, but as far as the studs go, if it were ME, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" That is my OPINION and, as everyone knows, opinions are like a******s, everybody has one!

I agree with Phil; pulling those studs is just making work for yourself. Besides , I think it would be damn near impossible unless you have the head off and use a stud puller. New gaskets and nuts are a good idea.

Sometimes on K bikes the stud will some out before the nut starts turning so they're not in there THAT tight.

Nonetheless, I'm in the ain't broke don't fix it camp.

However, if I were wanting to remove them. I'd heat them up with a heat gun, put a nut on followed by a lock nut. Then turn the top nut to unscrew the stud. Maybe use some PBR or Lquid Wrench if they're being stubborn.

I'v never noticed a gasket on any K bike exhausts. Now I'm paranoid.

When I took the exhaust off of my project… I found absolutely no gaskets. But I ended up buying the gaskets from A&S as per the microfiche provided. We have not tried to install as of yet.

When I took my exhaust off it didn't look like there where any gaskets in there because it was all black. I pryed on the end of the header where the gasket was supose to be with an o-ring pick and once I scratched it there it was a copper crush gasket. All four had a washers.

Same here - all 4 copper washers firmly located in the head. Tech manual advises replacement every time the exhaust is removed.
