well .. i thing i have found an issue that dose contribute to EFSF or better know as early fork seal failure...
i have look at my manual and the owners manual only to find it in a clymer manual..
the manual states to " touquore the front axle to required amount and then to move up and down the stering assembly to seat the fork tubes on the axle. then tighten pinch bolts.
it is my thinking ( or the 14 shots of schnapps) that if you do this in reverse order you have pulled a fork tube out of aligment hence causing uneven wear to a or both seals...
my question is how do you seat the front axle.. ? _________________ fix the problem not the blame ; fix what is messed up ; NO one is to blame. |

I used to do a lot of off road stuff and the idea was to loosen the clamp on the axle of the front wheel bounce the forks up and down then put on the front brake and tighten the clamps , it makes sure the forks arent pinched inwards or spread outwards at the wheel end . It would wear out your bushes I think more than the seals if you had a problem and you would feel the "stiction" as your forks wouldnt absorb small deflections.
Regards

Page 50 of the rider's manual tells you to tighten the axle bolt, then left side clamp bolts and then vigorously compress the forks with the front brakes applied before tightening the right hand clamp bolts. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I always leave the axle bolts and pinch bolts a little loose. Lower the front off the jack, romp it up and down a few times hard and then tighten everything up. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
