Over the weekend I synchronized the TB's on my K1100RS (45K miles) using the TwinMax unit. On the road the engine is noticeably smoother, but the idle speed is approx 1050 RPM, which I know is high. How do I adjust the idle speed? I've looked at the maintenance manual and searched the forum here but can't determine exactly how to get the idle speed down to 950 +/- 50 RPMs.

My LT idles up near 1100. I don't worry about.
And I figure it makes my bike about 3 nanoseconds faster off of the starting line. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

You can set the idle by using the vacuum screws that you screwed in and out to set the TBs. By opening or closing them evenly you can increase or decrease the idle and once you get the idle set you make sure they are still synced. I found that my bike idled rought at 950 and I also keep it about 1000-1100rpm. _________________ Rich

| Mine turns around 1050 as well, I think that's within spec. |

don't have the book handy, but IIRC, spec is 950 to 1050. I don't like a fast idle - fortunately mine is down around 950. _________________ Jim

There is an idle speed adj screw on linkage behind cable attach point. At idle screw is upside down - hold throttle open to see it and adj. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

Don't forget to check/adjust the tps sensor after you do that. Mine idle speed actually went down after I sync'd the T.B.'s

Thanks everyone. I am amazed at how much smoother the bike runs after the synch. _________________ Blair Rawls
