hello across the pond. I need a couple key blanks for the lock on the uni-go. Although the trailer was made in New Zealand, the lock was sourced from England. The key is a WBH # FS ***.

If one of you guys over there is willing to help me out with this, please send an email or PM. Thank you.

Hope this works

Does the key you need look anything like this, measurements are centimeters (+/- 2.50 to the inch)

Sorry about the size of the photo

Jim - it looks very much like that. If it's made by WBH and has FS 934 stamped on it, it'll work. Or, if it's a different manufacturer with a cross reference to the FS *** it will work. I can't read the #'s in the pic, but if it's a cross reference, they would be meaningless anyway.

My lock smith had made a few phone calls and says the number cross references to a union lock which is English made . there are no numbers stamped on the key to read.

If you think it is the same type key (or pretty close to it), e-mail me an address and it's on the way to you. If it works and you need more blanks we'll talk more about it, if this isn't a match it's', oh well we tried. I really don't want anything for this key.

hi Jim - thanks for checking around for me. Hold on a bit - there's no urgency here - this more of a want than a need - so far. Technician is going to do some checking there - the lock company is in the UK - they're still open for business - so blanks should be available there somewhere.

Quote:
WBH # FS ***.

It is a Wilmot Breedon Key. In the 60's & 70's There were FS or FP for cars & bikes EJR for steering locks & MC for caravans (trailers).
The letters are for the blank design. The number relates to the cut of the key.
In those days the number was on the lock & the garages had a full range of keys for sale over the counter. You may be able to find one just by googling the code. I shall look to see if there is one in my shed.
So asking for an FS blank is best if you have one to copy or FS*** will get you a working key.

thank you, Tim. My computer search didn't work very well - I came up with Weston Body Hardware - who, oddly enough, also make locks and keys. But since Wilmot Breedon has the right key number - I guess it's theirs.

A tad pricey for two keys, though - US $20.00 plus shipping - yikes... Had no idea the number was the actual key code. Over here, if there's a number on the key, it's usually the blank number.

Appreciate the info - now I know where to get the key.

Hi Jim, Lewis, Tim - thanks for your help. Turns out there's a company in NY - http://www.key-men.com/ - that stocks blanks for all kinds of old British cars - and they have the blanks I need - or at least they say they do. I wouldn't have found the blanks without your help, though. I sure do appreciate it.

Update: blanks in stock and ordered - <$6.00 each including shipping.

Cost of the key plus shipping I think would have come slightly higher with the Euro than what you found. Anyway , you have a solid back-up plan if needed

end of the key blank search. Got the blanks - one Taylor, one Ilco - both made in the US. I'm going to bust the local locksmith's chops for not being able to match this blank up. Of course, once he has the blank numbers, he'll be able to find them in two seconds.

Thanks to all for your help.
